Jyoti & Dadi are gathering the mail, and they see an envelope. Jyoti opens it and then yells for Deepu, telling him that there's a letter & parcel for him. He is surprised to hear this, and asks Jyoti what's in the letter? Jyoti sadly tells him that he has been terminated. Everybody is shocked, and Deepu wants to see it. Jyoti laughs at him and tells him that he's been promoted (whew!!!!) Everybody is relived. Deepu is now a manager. (They send such news in the mail? 🤔🤔 Normally, in most companies, they call the person, tell him that he's been promoted and give him his new package. Plus a cake in the mail in a parcel? 🤔🤔)
The parcel is a cake, and Sushi goes to get the knife. Dadi is all excited, and inevitably, the conversation drifts to Baby Mausi and the girl who she suggested for Deepu. Deepu starts looking worried, and Jyoti asks him what the deal is? Padma & Dadi are excited about the proposal, but Deepu says he's not interested in marriage. He blurts out that he can't until he's fulfilled his responsibilities to Jyoti & Sushma, and realizing how he's hurt both of them by suggesting that they don't belong there, he quickly says that not until everything is back to normal. Padma asks him to cut the cake, but he says that he's just eaten, and so tells everyone to divvy it up. Then he walks out of there.
Jyoti goes after him and asks him why is he reluctant to marry? Is he still in love w/ Panchi? Deepu denies it, and tells her that he doesn't deserve Panchi, having cheated her: now he can't even think of marrying her. Besides, Panchi too has probably moved on. Deepu begs Jyoti to let it go, but Jyoti tells him that he's the dream of their Papa, Ma & Dadi. If he refuses, she'll think that due to her and Sushma, Deepu is putting his own happiness at stake. Deepu asks her not to ask her a 2nd time, and she tells him that she'll do it provided that he too will promise... Then a mischievous Jyoti smiles and tells him that she'll tell Padma that Deepu has agreed to see the girl.
In the Vashisth household, Pankaj has just donned his gym clothes and shouts out for Jyoti as to where is his walking stick. Then he stops and realizes that Jyoti is no longer there, and then goes groping for it on the dressing table. In doing that, he accidentally knocks off a picture of Jyoti, and it falls down and the glass screen breaks. He reaches for it, and expectedly cuts his hand. Longshree, who sees this, rushes in and wraps his bleeding fingers, and asks him to get up, and she'll clean that place up and put the photo in the album. Pankaj shouts that she's to trash it, not put it in the album. She tries to get him to apply the ointment, but he asks her to do what he asked and leave.
Back at home, Jyoti is dusting her good ole scooter. Padma tells her that nobody drove it after she married. She asks Jyoti what's she up to, and Jyoti tells her that she's looking for a job. She'd travel on this - she has a long standing relationship w/ the vehicle (this will go down as my favorite thing about Jyoti). Padma tries to dissuade Jyoti from traveling on this, since everyone knows that she's the Vashisth bahu, and Jyoti asks bahu? She doesn't even know whether that relationship will survive or not. Padma says that regardless, people still recognize her as the Vashisth bahu, but Jyoti points out that people will say whatever they like. However, if they are all embarrassed b'cos of her... Padma quickly assures her that that's not the case, and that after all she's done for them, they are proud of her, not embarrassed. Padma says that this is probably the punishment for her own sins - Jyoti left home due to Padma, met Pankaj, married him and is now thrown out by him. Had she stopped Jyoti then, this day would not have arisen. Jyoti tells her that the time she spent w/ Pankaj was the best time in her life. Even though he doesn't understand her currently, she still wants him a lot. For her, this relationship will only break up after she dies. Padma says that she hopes to god that no more troubles touch Jyoti, and Jyoti asks what could happen that's worse? She then leaves w/ her scooter.
At the Vashisth mansion, CM is surprised at how Sudha could be so bold as to rebuff Minal on the photo that included Jyoti, and tells her that she'd talk to her, and that Sudha herself would apologize. Minal tells her that maybe she would, but why would Sudha listen to Minal? Who is Minal - after all, this is not her home (It's funny to see Minal in the same predicament as Jyoti, and having similar conversations w/ CM. But then again, empathy was never one of CM's strong suits) Aside from the fact that her maayka is supposed to be a stranger's place for her, her friends have started looking at her suspiciously, and Minal is wondering what's going through their mind? She tells CM she no longer wants to stay - today it's Sudha, tomorrow, it'll be someone else. She reminds CM that she had promised to persuade Kesav-ji, and tells her that if she can't send her home, to send her somewhere else, but she can't stay at her maayka any longer. CM reminds her that she did tell her that Minal would be brought back w/ full honor. She's leaving today for Jaipur to convince Kesav-ji.
CM flies to Jaipur, and tells Kesav-ji that now he shouldn't have any issues, since his main anger was @ Jyoti, and that the family had no more relationship w/ her. She asks him to now recall Minal, since she was innocent, and that CM wanted Uday to marry the same gal that Kesav-ji wanted him to marry. However, it was Jyoti who got Uday married to Sudha.
Kesav-ji tells her that he understands her POV, but asks her to follow his as well. That girl's father was a bosom buddy of his, and that by Uday spurning her, people were asking why did the Vashisth family break this engagement? There must be a problem w/ that girl. Now nobody is willing to marry that girl (So this makes it 3 - Jyoti, Minal & that Kota girl?) As a result, that innocent girl's life is now ruined, and due to this, he Kesav-ji considers himself responsible.
CM tells him that while they can't change the past, they can improvise on the future: she asks him to put out the marriage proposal of that girl, and that she, CM, will take full responsibility for her (like she did w/ Uday?) and to that end, anything they were capable of doing, they'd do. Just put her word out.
Kesav-ji replies that as per her word, Jyoti would never return to the family, right? CM agrees. He then says that in that case, she must be wanting Pankaj to marry a 2nd girl? CM smiles. Kesav-ji tells her that this is the perfect opportunity - he asks CM to have Pankaj marry that girl, whom she picked for Uday. CM is shocked (why? if she was good enough for Uday, what's wrong w/ Pankaj?), while Kesav-ji continues - that should make Pankaj happy, and since CM has herself met that family, she should be happy w/ it as well - they are her peers. Kesav-ji tells her that he understands her, but the girl's family will have no qualms about the fact that Pankaj is sight impaired. He tells her that if this marriage happens, the future of this girl will be secured, and with that, Kesav-ji's prestige with that family would be restored. Kesav-ji asks her not to take offense, but she did try to bribe them once before. He tells her that if she could make this proposal happen, he'd be convinced that Jyoti was indeed behind Uday's eloping w/ Sudha, and that he'd be convinced that CM wasn't just making up that story to get him to take Minal back. CM assures him that that's not the case, and that she had come there to ask for something, and he had shown her a bright future for Pankaj. She agrees to his proposal, and tells him that Pankaj will marry that Kota girl - that's her promise.
Pankaj is in a daze, and CM is brow-beating him and trying to convince him that Jyoti is a past phase of his life, and that he now needs to come out of it. (Obviously, she's trying to sell him into marrying the Kota girl)
I liked the first segment, which for a change, focused on Deepu, instead of dwelling on the same ole sappy scenes of Jyoti & Pankaj. In fact, if Jyoti & Pankaj are destined to re-unite, I want it to happen at the end of the serial, and in the interim, other things to happen, like say Deepu here and Pratik there marrying, Sushma having her baby and continuing her studies, Jyoti finding a new job,... One thing here - would Jyoti's expulsion be enough to dissuade them from accepting Deepu, or will the fact that Sudha is still there be tempting enough? And while Deepu may be over Panchi, is Panchi over Deepu?
Also, maybe it's just me, but I'm glad to see Jyoti's old scooter again. As usual, Padma had to be a prick about it, but I was glad to see her at least admit that she's the root cause of Jyoti's suffering. Jyoti may say that this relationship would end only w/ her death, but if Pankaj agrees to marry the Kota girl, then that won't be her choice, since Pankaj can't have 2 wives, and Jyoti would have to sign on the divorce.
I loved the last segment, where Kesav-ji humiliates CM by spelling out everything she's on record as having said about the Kota girl, and then telling her what it would take to convince him to believe CM in the first place re: Jyoti being behind Uday's marriage. I actually want Pankaj to marry this Kota girl, but I don't like the part about CM being vindicated even before Kesav-ji. Nonetheless, if all this happens, then CM will get a bahu that she likes married to her fav son/nephew, and that will hopefully get her off Suday's back. It would also force Jyoti to concentrate on things like her search for a job, etc, which is being hampered as long as she's recognized as the Vashisth bahu. She won't be if Pankaj re-marries.
Another option might be to somehow have Deepu marry this Kota girl, and that way also take both Jyoti & Sudha off Kesav-ji's list of dislikes, while having Pankaj marrying the girl whose family wanted Deepu just in order to get a bridge to the Vashisths. That way, the latter family would be happy, since their girl would be the Vashisth bahu, while the Kota family would be happy that their innocent but spurned daughter has finally found a taker. Actually, I do somewhat sympathize w/ the Kota girl - her marriage prospects were needlessly ruined by CM, who, had she accepted Sudha first time around, would have spared this Kota girl needless grief. That way, Kesav-ji is not really off the mark when he punishes Minal for Uday's eloping.
