Part 1

The Sharmas, as well as Uday & Sudha, arrive at Kalpana's place. She asks them not to cry when in front of Jyoti, as that would only increase Jyoti's stress. They go in to see her. Deepu & KK ask Jyoti to come w/ them home, but Jyoti doesn't respond. Kalpana suggests letting Jyoti stay w/ her, and that it may take her time to recover. Plus if she needs any medical help, Kalpana could do it better. She says that when Jyoti feels better, she'd herself drop her home. KK tries to assure Jyoti that Uday would try and convince Pankaj, and that he'd himself do it, and asks Uday to take him w/ him. Jyoti tells him not to, telling him that even if he succeeded, the most they'd do is let her live there, but in their hearts, they'd never accept her in the same way as before. And she couldn't live like that there if she wasn't accepted, so asks him not to tell Pankaj anything.

Uday & Sudha return home, and CM tells her not to ask for this favor of seeing Jyoti a 2nd time - she allowed it the first time only considering her mental condition. Uday tries to intervene, but CM stops him. She asks him what sort of a bro is he, when Pankaj is suffering, and he takes the side of the woman who reduced him to this state? Uday tells her that he's not taking anyone's side, but Jyoti is innocent, and CM tells him that she's ashamed to have anything to do w/ him. She asks him whether his love of Sudha has blinded him to the point that he can't empathize w/ the pain of his own family, even after seeing how Jyoti cheated them? She is scared that like Pankaj, Uday too could get hurt by Sudha, who has Jyoti's blood in her.

Uday perks up and tells her that the relationship that he has w/ Sudha will only end after his death. Plus she knows damn well that Sudha is innocent, and that whatever Jyoti was guilty of due to whatever circumstances, why should Sudha be punished for it? This is neither the tradition of the Vashisht family, nor his, and that he loves Sudha just as much as he loves CM. As his wife, Sudha has full rights to both this family and to his life. He asks CM not to try and remove her from either. And it would be good for all of them if they didn't have this conversation a second time.

CM tells him fine, she won't raise this again. However, if Sudha wants to earn the respect of the family as a bahu, then from this moment on, she'd have to break all ties w/ Jyoti. Sudha is shocked to hear this and goes away from there, crying.

Part 2

Sudha is sitting on their bed, crying, as Uday comes to comfort her. She asks him how does she sever ties w/ Jyoti? Uday asks her not to cry, and tells her that CM is upset due to Pankaj's condition, which is why she said what she said. Sudha is worried that all the relationships in the family are going haywire, and while trying to manage one, the other is getting damaged. She is upset that nobody here believes Jyoti. She asks whether he believes that Jyoti is a liar and Brij is truthful? Uday assures her that he has full faith in Jyoti. He says that he knows that what Jyoti did was wrong, but given the circumstances, she made the right calls. Pankaj too is human, and is hurt. Uday however thinks that throwing Jyoti out of his life and his house is not the right solution for Pankaj. He decides to talk to him - he can't let the family get destroyed due to a misunderstanding.

Uday then goes to meet Pankaj. Pankaj asks to be left alone, and would talk later. Uday tells him that it would be too late by then. Pankaj tells him that if he's there to talk about Jyoti, to leave. Uday asks him how long is he going to go through this? He reminds Pankaj that it was he who told him that one should trust one that one loves. Pankaj tells him that it wasn't love but deceit. Uday berates him for letting the account of a stranger destory his love, asking him whether it was that fragile. Pankaj tells him that a relationship based on such lies was destined to collapse. Uday tells him that he had always trusted Jyoti, so why doesn't he accept her account that whatever she did was due to the compulsion of circumstances, and not to hurt him? Pankaj tells him that there's a limit to everything, and that all he had asked Jyoti was just one promise - don't betray his trust. But she did, so there is nothing left of their relationship. Pankaj asks Uday not to come to him again on behalf of Jyoti, or else, their relationship too could be affected.

Sudha, who was listening to all this at the door, begs Pankaj to listen to Uday, but Pankaj tells her that he'd definitely listen to her if she came there as Uday's wife, but if she came there to advocate Jyoti's case, he wasn't (if Sudha is asking him to listen to Uday, how's that not being Uday's wife?) He asks her to leave before he says anything that she would find hurtful. He folds his hands and asks Uday to take Sudha and leave him alone.

In Kalpana's place, Jyoti acknowledges that Kalpana was right, and that Pankaj didn't appreciate being her 2nd love. Now the situation is such that Pankaj would never accept her again. Kalpana tells her that she's one of those who never accepts defeat. So why is she talking like this now? Jyoti tells her that she's lost, and everything is over, and that she has nobody. Kalpana points out that she has her parents, her sister & brother and all of them, so why does she consider herself alone? Jyoti tells her that she was taught that after marriage, her sasural was her home, and her maakya was a stranger's place (funny, a few days ago, she was contradicting Sudha when she pointed out the same thing). Kalpana tells her that while it is true that a new relationship is formed, it doesn't imply that the old one is destroyed. How can an educated gal like her talk like that? She tells her how after marriage, she managed both households (actually, that was the problem - Deepu being unable to step up to the plate and run things himself - only now is he showing signs of doing that). And even if she's forgotten it, her parents haven't (count Padma out of this one).

Jyoti says that even if her parents accept her back, a married gal who returns to her maakya is the subject of much gossip. She doesn't want to be the source of embarrassment for them. Kalpana asks her why is she so convinced that her in-laws won't accept her back? She says that she'll talk to Pankaj, and tell her that it was her suggestion that Jyoti conceal this, as well as the reasons, and she assures Jyoti that Pankaj himself will come to take her. Jyoti tells her that she'll be insulted if she goes there. Kalpana tells her that she'll take whatever insults she gets on behalf of her friend, but make sure that she talks to Pankaj.

Part 3

Next day, at the Vashisth mansion, Kalpana tries to persuade CM to let her meet Pankaj. CM tells him that Pankaj doesn't want to meet anybody. Kalpana tells her that she won't leave w/o meeting Pankaj, and Pankaj, who's hearing all this from upstairs, tells CM to let her meet him. He lets her into his room, and tells her to tell him whatever she wants.

Kalpana tells him that Jyoti actually did want to tell him everything about Brij & Sushma before their marriage, and that it was Kalpana who stopped her, and there was a reason for it. She recounts to him the conversation she had w/ Jyoti when Jyoti wanted Pankaj to learn all this from her, rather than someone else. Kalpana tells Pankaj that this was the truth then, and that the responsibility for him being deceived was hers, not Jyoti's. Pankaj asks her why she choose to tell him after a year? Kalpana tells him that by then, Brij was there, and she didn't want him to do any damage in this family.

Kalpana then tells Pankaj that when a gal is newly married, she does have apprehensions about her new home. Pankaj is furious and points out that for a year, he let Jyoti do whatever she wanted, and even went against his own family on occasions. He respected all her wishes. Wasn't all that adequate to gain her confidence? Yet she chose to suppress this. Kalpana tells him that she told him the reason, but Pankaj charges her w/ feeding him something that Jyoti told her. He says that Jyoti fessed up not due to fear but repentance, since she still had a relationship w/ Brij even after marriage. He points out that Brij came there, and both pretended not to know each other. They took full advantage of his blindness. Kalpana protests that this is a lie, and that since Brij & Sushma married, Jyoti had nothing more to do w/ him. And he's just accepting Brij's word for it?

Pankaj tells her that he's not accepting anybody's word for it. He tells her that as a psychiatrist, she would be knowing that when one cannot see, one's other senses get magnified significantly. He said that Jyoti did get loved by Brij, but because he couldn't provide her the luxuries, she sought him out - a rich blind guy. Kalpana is dismayed, but Pankaj tells her that he's said whatever he has to. He tells her to leave, and not come back advocating for Jyoti a 2nd time. Kalpana tells him that he's making a big mistake, and that he'd regret it one day. Pankaj tells her that he'd eagerly be waiting for that day, and promises her that if that day arrives, he'd go w/ folded hands to both Kalpana & Jyoti. For now, she can leave. Kalpana does.

Precap: Jyoti attempts suicide #2?

Jyoti is standing on a bridge over a reservoir/lake(?), thinking to herself that she can't live w/o Pankaj 🤔
🤔 She decides to end it all by jumping, and starts climbing to the railing. The scene ends
Comments

I liked Uday making it final to CM that there'd better not be any more contemplating the expulsion of Sudha. As for CM, she would have played her hand better had she instead of asking her to instantly sever all ties w/ Jyoti, she asked her to support the family decision in case it decided against having anything more to do w/ her. But other than that, given that Jyoti is out of favor, CM wasn't far wrong in demanding that she show her loyalty to the family, rather than to Jyoti. She could also have pointed out to Sudha how she was sheltered there at the behest of Pankaj & MN, when even Jyoti didn't want to get her there.

I however thought that Pankaj could have been more effective both w/ Uday as well as Kalpana. He could have pointed out to Uday that despite the fact that the Sharmas owed him so much, they still thought it worth deceiving him as well over this, using Sudha when it suited them for the purpose, and therefore, CM's demand that Sudha have nothing more to do w/ Jyoti wasn't all that unjustified. He could also have told Kalpana that having advised Jyoti to deceive him, she could now take care of her friend, since he couldn't.

It was funny to hear what Jyoti had to say to Kalpana, given that only a few days ago, she told Sudha exactly what Kalpana told her today. And Sudha wasn't far wrong - she was just suggesting that Jyoti let Sandeep handle it, since their sasural did have grievances against them for being too loyal to their maakya. Sudha has more reasons to be loyal to Jyoti, but no reason to be more loyal to her maakya than her sasural. Much more importantly, Jyoti left out the CM factor and how abusive she is while trying to tell Kalpana why she couldn't just go back.
