HI,

I dont live in India and have started seeiing this program for last 2 months. I am totally unbiased, but with my musical training and being a singer this is my 2 cents worth of opinion.

My choices for the final 3

1. Hemachandra is the best vocalist, well trained, very disciplined, respectful, down to earth. There is no doubt that he will be very successful whether he wins or not. Bollywood has not been verykind to South INdian actors or singers. It is only after Rahman came that likes of Hariharan, Kavita krishnamurthy, shankar mahadevan even were noticed. That is always an issue with the North. So I think Hemachandra will have to work extra hard to prove himself. But in South he will be famous.

Hemachandra,if you are reading, get some Hindiand Urdu exact pronouciation classes to keep you ahead in the game and please please go approach ARR and he is known to discover and give chance to new talent.

2. Himani: excellent singer, with a kind on OOMPH in her voice. Will suit most songs except very high notes. She will do well But she needs to watch her arrogance, and needs to be more humble and considerate of others. I noticed that she is very excited when she wins or she is highest but makes faces when not and as a singer she needs to control her emotions since there will be cut throat competition in the real world.

3. Nihira. has a conventional bollywood singer voice, excellent voice and training and range. Needs a good mentor to work with Bollywood bigwigs and dirty politics and some confidence and OOMph to her voice. SHe feels similar to Shreya Goshal except Shreya has a little naughtiness in her voice which is sweet to hear,

Now coming to our existing finalists, the less I say about Debojit the better. He has a pleasant voice, but you can find voices like his everywhere. he has been playing the audience with melodrama about his life, how hard he worked and his wife crying for everything. it is annoying. But I bet he will not get many chances to sing after the contest. Mark my words. the same people who voted for emotional or regional feelings will refuse to buy his audio cassete. He is good for orchestras, weddings etc. He has no range at all in his singing.

Coming to Vinit, it is really unfortunate that a good talent like him is getting carried away and hyped by HImesh and the public. He needs lot more maturing before he can become a singer. Trust me, becoming a singer takes a lot more than good voice. He is the kind of kid who will get carried away with all the accolades and forget what his passion is.

I dont see a real passion in Vineet for singing. It is like he is putting up a show and trying to please people. For God sake, 17 year old talking about love and his stupid idiotic mentor encouraging that, instead of focusing on singing and his career. He does sing well, but definitely cannot hit high notes or sing melodiously. Again absolutely no originality in his voice. He is being hyped as the yourngest contestant and once that novelty wears off when he is 23 or 24 no one is going to care about him,

So this is my opinion. No offence to anyone and please comment intelligently not dirty or silly stuff.

I expected much more better analysis from you because you are singer and you know music as you claim. But you did not say anything about Debo and Vinit's singing but you given account of non-singing factors which anybody can put. So please either give some good analysis based on music and singing. I am looking for some better musical analysis about Debo and Vinit.

Sorry, I beg to differ autmother.

For starters Kavita K was here before Rehman. So you don't even have
those basic facts rights. Secondly, stop luping South singer together, I
am sick of it (are you an emloyee of HR?)

Himani is talented but even within her genre she is not as good as even
Keka for example. Sunidhi Chauhan for example has demonstrated much
more versatility like in Chameli. Richa Sharma has far higher technical
skills.

Nihira like Shreya has a sweet voice but a different voice. So i hope she
will be guided by MD to grow and be even more versatile liek Alka,
Shreya, Kavita K.

Vinit is technically weak. His voice does not sound matured. You are a
trained singer -- what do you think? He may be talented but he needs
more training. he needs a real guru and not that fake guru HR who is
more interested in contests than learning. Who is HR's guru? I want to
know because you see even greats like Jagjit Singh continue to train with
a guru. Of course our friends Sonu and Shaan also train wiht a classical
guru to grow. Does HR?

Debo -- inconsistent stage performer but will probably do well in the
studio. I beleive both Aadesh and himesh said so at different times.

Actually I like Arijith from Fame Gurukul's Alap, rendition, diction and melody better than Hema. I am always against the comparision of contestant from one show with another but I am comparing it because both Arijith and Hema has lot of similarities.

Apparao ji,

My observation about criteria of supporting contestants by some people are as follows:

Regionalism and Age(1st)

Hype(2nd)

Looks(3rd)

Singing(4th)

Music Director(5th)

i feel himani is decent singer, but her voice quality makes her suitable only for certain types of songs like the ones sunidhi chauhan sings.

nihira has good training and with some effort she can become a very successful playback singer. i would hate to see her getting mired in bollywood politics

I think inspite of requesting we stillhave people like assamindia talking dirty things, If you dont have anything to say please dont talk.

Everyone who says Hemachandra is good is not neccesarily biased apparaoji.

I am not saying that Debojit is a abad singer, but there are many singers like him, there is nothing extraordinary that stands out, so for him to be in finals is not appropriate. REgarding his song rendition, it does not matter if he sings well in rehearsal, believe me you ,music directors dont have patience to keep helping the singers to get better especially he is not that young either.
REgarding his music abilities it appears that he has some training, but still cannot do the harkatein, alaaps and pitch changing etc etc as well. MAy be he can start training under a guru to better himself. He appears to be a sweet person, but that is different from being very talented.
Regarding Nihira undoubtedly she is a great singer, she already was when she started. I just hope she knows how to market herself and people do see and appreciate her talent, Indian public sure didnt and voted her out.

As regards to Vineet, he seems to have least training or passion. He cannot do any alaaps well, high notes sound shrill and like yelling, He also goes nasal sometimes with higher notes and his imitation of Rafi or Sonu Nigam is intolerable He cannot do any songs with classical blend, but ofcourse he will be good for B4umusic, which by the way is worse than American VH1 or MTV.
If I had to choose between Debojit and Vinit, it would be definitely Debojit since at least his songs are soothing.

To decide for yourself, dont decide watchingthe show, close your eyes and listen to some of these recorded shows and you will know who is good, because obviously you will be listening to them, not seeing them as much in real life.
Thats all I have to say.
Thanks

Hi,
I quite agree with your review auto mother.
The problem with most people on this forum is that everyone has become cynical and the moment you say anything about a person they take it personally. and they convert the entire thing into a region issue.

By the way my personal opinion is that Hema and Nihira are by far superior singers than Himani, Vineet and Debojit.
The problem with most south indian singers is that when they sing the hindi words are not very clear and that's why they lose - this is my personal assessment and since most of them are based in Madras or Bangalore they tend to lose out on good songs - i too agree that Hema should take diction classes but there's no doubt that he will definitely rock and become a very popular singer. I think what makes him more likeable is the fact that he's very down to earth and genuine and that's why we all like him. Same goes for Nihira too - i just heard the hare rama hare krishna song she sung - i think that if her talent is properly tapped she too can sing in a lot of variations. i guess she should become more experimental and not just stick to sweet good songs.
As far as Debojit is concerned - i think he still has a long way to go. sometimes he's very good but then sometimes he's awful. Moreover he should come forward by his talent and not by playing with people's emotions. i guess with good training he too can do very well.
Vineet - I think his voice is not yet matured but he is a good singer. he should concentrate on singing rather than stupid antics. but i guess this guy though better than debojit will lose coz of HR and his stupidity.
