Part 1

Dadi asks Pankaj why is he asking them questions, as though they are strangers to him. Pankaj tells her that it is they who've treated him like an outsider. He always thought that he had gained a new family, and never thought of himself as separate from them. He asks why none of them thought it worth telling him such a major fact about their family? Padma answers his question and tells him that Jyoti was very happy w/ this proposal - wasn't that what he wanted to hear? (Padma lacks basic decency, but what's new?) Pankaj thanks her, and she tries to tell him that that was not all. Pankaj now explodes (I'm glad he exploded at Padma - from day 1, I've hated the Vashists respecting this b!#@&) and asks whether it wasn't enough that she loved someone else before she married him? (Dude, it happens - not everyone marries their first love) And that he deserted her and decamped w/ her younger sister? He asks what else is there to listen to after knowing all this? Now he understands why Jyoti tried to commit suicide (this is something unknown to the Sharmas, except Sudha, but the Jyoti tried to commit suicide after discovering that KK had deceived her about Padma being her mother, not due to Brij eloping w/ Sushma instead as Pankaj assumes here). Wiping his tears, he calls Sushma and tells her that despite her being the daughter of this family and Jyoti's sis, he didn't get the opportunity to know her, and she had to be a servant at his house on 2 occasions, and pretend to be a servant at her own house. She too had to suffer the consequences of Jyoti's lies, and despite this, she has no ill-will towards Jyoti since all that the entire family wanted was Jyoti's happiness (Sushma would have done well to interrupt him and tell him of all the hatred she carried against Jyoti until just recently. She has been behaving relatively well recently, but doesn't merit the bouquets while Jyoti gets brickbats). He apologizes to her for all the pain she's gone through as a result. Saying this, Pankaj turns to leave, and bumps against a door. Deepu calls out to him, but he waves him away and walks out in disgust and sadness.

Back at the Vashisth home, everybody is at the dining table eating, and Jyoti returns. She asks whether Pankaj-ji's returned, and MN says no, and asks her about the dinner program they had. BM asks him whether everything is okay, and where is Pankaj, and CM asks her why isn't she responding? Jyoti begs them not to ask her anything right now, and runs away to her room. Sudha gets up to follow her, but CM stops her and tells her to keep eating - why is she spoiling her own mood due to Jyoti's errors? CM asks how can everything be okay - didn't they see the look on Jyoti? She & Pankaj must have had a fight.

Pankaj is in his car being driven home. Somewhere in between, he asks the driver to stop and drop him. He is in a pissed off mood - the driver was hesitant to stop there, but on his repeated orders, he finally did. Pankaj gets down and starts walking through the city (yeah, I understand that he's pissed, but I didn't get the idea of his getting down and walking - why not instead ask the driver to take him somewhere other than home?) While walking, he gets flashbacks of various events that have happened over the last few days, such as Jyoti telling the cop that Brij wasn't the husband of the girl being abused, or Brij's description of a girl that left him for a rich guy (now, does Pankaj believe Brij's version that Jyoti left Brij for Pankaj's riches, or Jyoti's version that Brij was cheating on her w/ Sushma? If the latter, shouldn't he also be pissed off at Brij?) He compares those w/ what Jyoti's just told him.

In her room, Jyoti is desperately trying to get hold of Pankaj, and asks why he switched off his phone. In the meantime, Deepu is trying to get hold of Jyoti, and finally gets hold of her. KK takes it and asks Jyoti what was the deal - Pankaj had come and asked a whole bunch of stuff about Brij & Sushma. Jyoti asks him to keep Pankaj there, and that she'll come to see him, but KK tells her that he's left. He told her that Pankaj was both angry and sad. Jyoti says that it's natural, since she finally gathered the cajunes to tell him everything. KK demands to know what made her do that - since she had successfully suppressed it for over a year, and the entire family helped her in covering it up, where was the need to reveal all this today? (Dude, you're forgetting that Brij is there to uncover it had Jyoti not confessed). Jyoti tells him that this is something she should have done a lot sooner, but not to worry, everything would be alright (it would from the POV that Brij would be unable to blackmail Sushma any more, since Jyoti doesn't have to shield him in the process of hiding things from her in-laws)

Part 2

Jyoti is sitting in her room w/ Sudha. Sudha tells her that if the phone is switched off, Pankaj doesn't want to talk to anyone re: this, so how is Jyoti so sure that everything will be okay? Jyoti tells her that it's because it'll be an end to all their problems, and that truth always triumphs (ironic comment for someone who did what she could w/o it for a year)

Pankaj arrives home and shouts out for Jyoti. They go down, and hearing him yell, everybody heads to the living room. Jyoti goes to greet him, but he stops her. Pankaj, in a sarcastic tone, tells her how great she is - marrying a blind guy and setting an example in society. She'd oppose evils in society and talk about raising orphans and their future, and set herself as a role model for women? This was the image she was portraying to the outside world - simple, truthful, responsible leader. In which case, what happened to him - how was he the one cheated? How did he not realize what a liar and a cheat she was? The rest of the family is shocked to hear this. She was very sanctimonious - telling people what's right and what's wrong, and he too was a dupe who couldn't see her true colors. He tells her that he's angry not at her, but at himself. He knew that he was sight impaired, but today, she's demonstrated to him that his mind was impaired as well. (The Vashisths are looking at each other, wondering what this is). Pankaj says that for a whole year, she and her entire family fed them lie after lie after lie, and he couldn't recognize any of it. Jyoti begs him for a chance to explain, and Pankaj asks her what does she want to explain? How is she going to convince his folks that his friend Brij, w/ whom she behaved as though she had never met him before, was someone she was at one point interested in marrying? All the Vashisths are stunned to hear this. How is she going to explain that the girl who she allowed to be a servant in their house on 2 occasions was none other than her own sister? The Vashisths are horrified. She just watched her sister be a servant in the house - that sis who is today Brij's wife. Jyoti pleads w/ him to w/ a cooler temper come inside and listen to him, but Pankaj throws her off and warns her against touching her.

Part 3

Pankaj asks Jyoti - what was it she wanted to say to him alone? What did she think - one more story, one more lie? He reminds her that she didn't just lie to him, but to his entire family, deceiving them all and keeping them in the dark. Anything she wanted to tell him would have to be told right there, right in front of everybody!!! He asks her - after hiding such a major fact about her life, how does she sleep at night, or look herself in the mirror? Or is every day a new exercise in how can I fool them today? He reminds her that he loved her more than life itself, and trusted her. In return, for an entire year, she put on a charade of how she loved everyone. Even at the party, her folks acted like they didn't know this: where was the need for this charade? Wasn't it enough just to fool him?

Jyoti tries to explain that she did withold things from Pankaj, but there was a reason for that, which she wished he'd hear. Again, on Jyoti trying to get her hands on him, he tells her not to touch her. Jyoti now apologizes. She acknowledged that she lied, but said she had to lie (Nice move, Jyoti!!!) because she knew how sensitive he was about his handicap, and how he always felt that any girl would only marry him b'cos she was forced to, not b'cos she wanted to. Woudn't he have thought that way had she told him about Brij? (No reason to, since Jyoti hadn't even met Pankaj by then, but such logic is eluding even Pankaj right now) Pankaj warns her against talking psychology, and asks her whether she ever thought that he had any complexes borne of being sight-impaired? Did she ever think that he was abnormal in any way, or unworthy of being her hubby? Jyoti is shocked to hear this, and says that was not what she meant, and Pankaj retorts that that was definitely what she meant. Or else, why suddenly today, did she feel the urge to suddenly tell the truth? He was still as blind as he was previously, wasn't he? According to her so-called logic, this reservation about him is something that could still occur. So why the sudden urge to tell the truth - she could have gone through life riding on this lie. Nobody would ever have figured what was going on in her mind, so why suddenly the truth?

Jyoti explains that she's already mentioned this - that when she saw that Brij was trying to exploit this family as well for his own personal gains, she could no longer stay silent. She fessed up now so that she could at least save this family from that conman.

At this point, Brij enters the house, clapping his hands and saying 'wah'!!! Pankaj and everyone turn towards him. The episode ends.

Precap

The much-awaited kicking-out episode - tonight was the last night of Jyoti in her sasural!!! Pankaj tells Jyoti - after all this, the 2 of us cannot live together under the same roof. Now you decide - either you leave this house, or else I do!!! Jyoti is shocked!!!

Dec 31 2009 will be Jyoti's last in her sasural

Comments

Today's episode was also a must-see, like yesterdays. Pankaj forced the Sharmas to confront the uncomfortable question of why they thought him separate enough from them that they had to lie to him, and then, the coup-de-grace - apologizing to Sushma for having been the cause of her being a servant at not only their house, but her own. I wish Sushma had the guts to stop him and tell him to what extent she was the cause of all this, given that she was the only person Pankaj was feeling remotely sympathetic towards. At the end, when Pankaj tried to make his way out and declined anybody's assistance, it was somewhat sad to see how betrayed he felt at his hosts.

I didn't get his act after that - getting out of the car in the middle of nowhere, and ultimately making it back home. Where was the need for that? Why not go home normally in the car, and then tell everyone what just transpired, like he did later? This portion was needlessly dramatic.

Looks like the Sharmas still haven't learnt their lesson. Seriously, having seen what Brij was doing, did KK seriously expect that this would not come out? And bad as all this is, nothing would be worse than Brij rather than Jyoti being the one to break this to Pankaj. Couldn't Jyoti have mentioned that to both KK and Sudha?

I like how Pankaj aggressively confronted Jyoti on arriving home, and insisting that this time, any explanation she had to give would be given to everybody. It was amazing to see the look on everybody's faces (except Sudha's) when Pankaj mentioned all the facts, like Sushma being Jyoti's sister and Brij's wife, and that her entire family concealed this fact from them. I particularly liked the look on CM's face. I was somewhat surprised at her silence, even when Jyoti was groveling and apologizing to Pankaj - normally, she doesn't hesitate to give her the third degree. And given what she's been hiding, Jyoti's explanations were really pathetic - particularly the one about why she didn't tell him about Brij in the first place. Keep in mind that at the time, she did not even regard Sachin as her bf, let alone contemplate marrying him.

I also found it melodramatic how Brij walked in at the end, as though he owned the place. How did he know that this was a good time to come - couldn't he have waited until tomorrow?

Prediction: tomorrow, Brij will show the Vashsishs the letters, and may even have someone from the Vashisth family read out to Pankaj the letters Jyoti wrote to him. Although I didn't see him in the pre-cap - dunno whether Pankaj kicked him out as well. Hope he did.

I wish Jyoti has given more convincing arguments rather than the pathetic story line that she adopted. And why are her dud head family members just looking appalled ? Did they lose their tongue? Why not speak up and tell the whole story? I think the first person who should meet Pankaj and talk is that Sushma....the entire story needs to spill out there.

I hope that stupid Pankaj does not sympathize with Brij as well! Brij is such a gutless guy he can turn the story around on sushma as well. He can withold the 'i did not tell about jyoti part' saying that i saw my ex gf happily married and did not have the heart to spoil her life...which is why i kept quiet.

I wonder where the CV are heading tho'? Jyoti needs to be thrown out for lying and trusting that doctor friend of hers.

And once again, i hope they emphaize that marriage is not built on lies except if one partner is cheating...in which case, the second can cheat to catch him!

Thanks for your superb update again.

My heart is in palpitating mode now. Wonder what Brij will say? And I PRAY That pankaj kicks him out first before kicking Jyoti out.
