Hi,

What do you all think about Padma's reaction to Suday marriage.

I know all of them were shocked to see them married and Padma asking and scolding Sudha that why she did this was all fine. But slapping her and saying now she has no relationship with her? Isn't this is same Padma who used to tell everyone (when they have broken all ties with Sushma) that what terrible thing Sushma has done by just marring the person she loves. And she used to ask KK how could he forget his own daughter and so on...

She was so supportive to sushma, now what happened. Is it just because Sudha is not her own daughter. I know she just not like Jyoti because she thinks that Jyoti is getting all the attention in the house and also after her marriage she felt that Jyoti is enjoying in rich family whereas her daughter is suffering in poverty.

I think she is also upset that Sudha too is now married in rich family. KK and dadi I know are more conserned that Sudha would not be treated well in that family but Padma I fell is more jealous.

But I agree w/ your analysis - KK & Dadi were opposed to this match only b'cos CM was as well, and they didn't want Sudha, like Jyoti, to be ill treated by her. Otherwise, KK was always in favor of Sudha being dated by Uday, and during that time, he had no idea of what CM thought about Jyoti.

Padma - you hit the nail right on the head. Had Uday been in love w/ Sushma instead of Sudha, Padma would have been all for it - he's rich, not blind, a genuinely decent guy, and she'd be thrilled by such a match. But unlike Sushma, who was w/ that loser Brij for so long, Sudha, who Padma perceives as a loser, has landed a guy that even surpasses Pankaj in terms of his abilities and decency. No wonder Padma is jealous.

I however thought that KK's & Dadi's parting comments last night were uncalled for as well - they could have just given Sudha the silent treatment and left. After all, this is the same Dadi that used to hit Sudha on suspicion of eating her laddoos and cream: now that Sudha isn't there anymore to have any of her stuff.

Even Jyoti let down Sudha in the past when she walked out of the house w/o Sudha. Only 1 person has ever cared for Sudha, and that's Uday. It's understandable that had Uday gone ahead w/ that contrived marriage, Sudha wouldn't have survived long - she could only have become Devika so many times before that would come in conflict w/ her medication, and then all her escape routes would be cut off. After that, she'd probably have had a brain haemorrage. All for the sake of the 'izzat' of the Sharmas & the Vashisths.
