They have innumerable hits in Bengal, and most of the songs if you get a chance to hear them are unforgettable. If you remember, Hemant Kumar was a Bengali and with a terrible accent in Hindi. And he made it big in Bollywood. Even today, there are innumerable Hemant Kumar fans in our very own Hindi belt. Just go and check.
So, lets not compare the music scene in India with SAT/GMAT etc. I dont think its a valid comparison.

those r good points. but there r accents n there r accents. do not want to offend, so i'll stop with that. but even for some of us northies who've been to the finest US colleges, accent is something we just cant get rid of. some of us do come across with less of an accent than some others.

Chatbuster, you are brave indeed. Standing in the middle of hardcore Hemu fans and making comments like these. But I started this thread to discuss Hemu's voice and not start a fight between vinit and hemu fans. There are other threads to do that. I accept responsibility of digressing from the point by making the Debo elimination remark. Lets not do it again. Thanks for your co-operation

Vinit fans who have lost their way into this thread, let me tell you guys that we respect Vinit as much as we respect Hemu. Vinit is a superb singer. excellent range and extraordinary voice control. No doubt about that. But we are all Hemu fans and since we are all in love with his voice we want him to win, because thats the voice we would like to hear after the challenge is long over.
