Farm Ville
He had been noticing the changes in his wife for past couple of days. She would finish her work, ask him if he needed anything and retire to their room. She stopped complaining about his work load that he most of the time carried home. Few times he had noticed her sitting with the laptop. Oh well, he had thought, something to occupy her. She would stop complaining. It was on a Monday he had returned home to get an important file she was on the phone. She looked at him in surprised and asked him closing the mouth piece with one hand and asked. "What happened?'
'Forgot a file..' he said and walked to his shelf he heard her talking…
'sona, send me cows and fences please .. hm… okay banana tree.. no yar I can't send them… apricot is unlocked I'll send that and tell Nishi to be my neighbor.. han .. okay..'
Send cows? He thought. Bani is starting a farm? Where but? In the back yard.. he wouldn't let her do that never . it would be so messy and smelly… no never… but he did not have time to stop and ask her about it. he left taking the file and she continued with her conversation.
In the evening he heard her talking again on the phone. 'yes.. pigs would be fine and horses if you can I know you're on high level .. hm.. okay fences .. yes I need them I am in short of them… okay….'
He went to freshen and returned and saw her with a cup of coffee for him. he took the cup and took her by the shoulder and asked, 'yeh farming kab se shuru kar rahein ho thum?'
'Ji?'
'Farming…. F A R M I N G ….' He said looking at her.
She gave him a spectacular smile and said, 'two weeks ago..'
'What and where? In the backyard?' he frowned.
'No silly… it's … well in the face book .. virtual farming you know .. its so much fun and you feel like you are a farmer…'
Jai made a face sipping his tea. What is this sending cows and fences?'
Bani got all excited about the Farmville she went on and on about the game. 'come Jai I'll show you my farm..' she pulled his hand to her laptop. She switched on the lap top with excitement and entered her mail address and password and clicked the icon for Farmville. He stood looking at her and her enthusiasm with a smile he put the cup aside. On the screen her farm opened and she said ,'look jai. Doesn't it look so real. Look at the cows, ducks trees and see I even extended the land….' She showed him all clicking the mouse. 'oh ho.. my artichokes are getting ready.. I should not forget to harvest', she said to herself and looked at him. He shook his head chuckling and said, pagal ho thum. Yeh kya bachon jaisi game thumhein aur koi kam nahin hein….'
Bani made a face. 'what is wrong with this? Millions of people are playing this game. You are an old man and you remain one.' She chided.
'me and old man…' he shut the lap top and pulled her into his arms. Snuggling to her he smiled and said, 'you won't believe what all went through my mind I thought you were ordering cows and fences for our backyard and I was thinking hundreds of ways how to say NO…'
Bani giggled hugging him.

As the days passed she got more immersed in her farm. Her neighbors are getting ahead of her and she was short for neighbors and coins and FV cash. She decided to talk to Jai.
Jai as usual was back from his office she was sitting with her lap top which was starting to irritate him.
'Don't you have anything better to do Bani? he asked changing into casuals.
'I am doing better things here Jai. By the ways can you do me a favor darling?'
Darling? He was surprised. She never darlinged him. she needed something and this was her kind of buttering.
'What darling? What can this darling do for you?' he asked amused.
'Jai do you have account in face book?' she asked keeping the laptop aside and looking at him expectantly.
'No, Why?' he frowned.
'Make an account Jai and add me as your neighbor in farm Ville.. please.' She added as his expression changed to are you out of your mind look.
'You are absolute crazy go yar and I am hungry…………….' He said.
'Please jai my friends are increasing their level with their experience and I ….'
'okay… do whatever you want do not drag me to all this virtual farming… by the ways I didn't see ma down stairs what is she doing?'
Bani smiled, 'ma is farming..'
'Oh no not her too..' he said with disbelief.
'it's not all bad Jai just take a look at it it's fun..'
'I have enough fun. And don not want to add extra fun at this moment. Thum …. Khair chodo…'
'But Jai you do not have to play just add me as your ..'
Bani don't you understand the language….. I said No… this is all for ladies who have nothing better to do..'
'Oh really?' she got all worked up. 'there are men too and besides I didn't want to add any of them because they are strangers….'
'Then they have nothing better to do and khabardhar thum un sab ko add kiya tho….' He went and sat down next to her. 'chodo yeh sab aur..'
'Okay shall we go out and have dinner?' she looked at him.
'Er.. mmm.. no I am tired… some other time perhaps.' He said scratching his head
'Alright then, take rest I'll wake you up when its time for dinner..' saying that she took her lap top and got engrossed in her farming. If it was few weeks before she would drag him out no matter what . but now she liked farming better than going out and eating. She decided to farm strawberries they just take 4 hrs and she can make some money and buy a harvester.
Jai left her side wanting to strangle her. he thought he would flirt with her little but No madam wants to do farming. He went to his side of the bed and shut his eyes.
Bani woke him up for dinner. They ate dinner and the only topic was farm Ville. Bani and his mother were more than excited to talk about farming. Jai shook his head and continued with his food.
They discussed about milking cows collecting eggs and harvesting. And then he heard his wife say,
'ma aap ko patha hein mein apni needh mein bhi harvesting karthi hoon market jathi hoon lag tha hein pagal ho rahi hein…'
'Lagtha nahin pagal hi hein… aur ma app bhi …. yeh kya behuda game hein?' he commented.
Krishna laughed. 'thum hein nahin patha thum tho bas… humein yeh sab patha hein.. han jai remember to pay the monthly rent for the net okay…'
Jai shook his head hopelessly and Bani laughed along with his mother.

Jai did not let Bani touch her laptop. 'thum chodo yeh sab bani kay harvakth….'
Bani gave in she did not want to irritate him. she knew she was getting very addicted to the game. They went to sleep. Bani dreamed about her farm redesigning. Suddenly she snapped opened her eyes. 'Bhagwan meri strawberries its been more than 4 hrs… if she did not attend to it. her strawberries would whither. All her effort would go in the drain. She would lose coins. She slowly took his hand off her waste and was about to get up he asked in sleepy voice.
'Where are you going?'
'I remember I need to harvest my strawberries…'
'Do it in the morning…'
'No Jai it will wither and I'll lose money….' She whispered slowly.
'Bani this is middle of the night you are disturbing my sleep…'
'Jai you go to sleep I will not disturb you..'
You are disturbing me now…' he muttered.
'Jai please only this time I promise I'll not do this again..'
'Khabrdhar thum yahanse ut kar gayi tho.. chup chap leit jao..' he held her tightly in his arms.
'jai I'll lose money..' she tried again.
'I have enough money for both of us dear to last our life time thum aram se so jao…'
Bani did not try again she knew there was no use of begging he wouldn't let her. if she tried again she may not get to play in her whole life. She quietly obliged. He brushed his lips on her cheeks and went back to sleep.
First thing Bani did in the morning was look into her farm before he got up. She had decided not to touch the computer again last night when he did not listen to her but Bani couldn't keep her away from her Farm Ville. To her disappointment all her strawberries have withered. She closed the laptop as she heard him move from the bed she got real angry with him.
She did not speak to him. she finished all her work served him breakfast answered in monosyllables to his questions.
'What's happened to you wife thumhara mooh chada hua kyon hei?
'Nothing..'
'tell me if I can solve the problems you can bring down your nose from the air.'
'very funny..'
Tell me Bani what happened?' he asked walking towards her and taking her in his arms. She moved from his hold and said, 'you are getting late for office.'
'Oh… you are pushing me out so that you can play your foolish game?'
'oh by the way Bani I had a dream yesterday like you are getting up from the bed in the middle of the night to play your silly game…'
"Oh.. and what did you do Jai..' she asked.
'me? I held her tight in my arms.. you do know in dream or otherwise I love to hold my wife…'
Bani smiled her anger flying out of the window. 'okay go…. Its time for the office..'

Bani finished her work quickly and sat before her farm to make up for the money she lost. She knew she was getting too addicted with this game but it was fun it was like real farming….
Jai on the other hand was getting irritated at her diverted attention. He wanted her to complain about his work at home. She had stopped complaining to his disappointment. He hated to see her engrossed in the game. He would ask her to get him water and tea and then juice and she would get up from her game, two days she did as he had asked without compliant the third day she got him tea water and juice on a tray and placed it on the table. Her antics made him smile.

'Jai I promise I'll not sit with this game when you are around I know its getting on your nerves.' She said one day. he was happy. But somewhere it plagued him he was being unreasonable. She does all the work and then sit with her computer when he goes to his study to work. Okay there were times she would sit before it when he was around too but not often she had reduced it too. He wanted to know what was in the game. He decided to check out. He had heard in the office too about the Farm. What was it that was drawing people towards it. He decided to check it out. One Sunday Bani and his mother had gone to attend a wedding. He sat with his laptop and logged onto the face book.

Bani and his mother returned home later in the evening. Jai was as usual in his study. Bani changed her dress and went to look for him. he was engrossed in his work.
'Hello..' called Bani. Jai instantly shut the laptop. She noticed it and asked frowning.
'what's happening?'
'What?'
Computer bandh kyon kiya?'
'I finished my work and I have been sitting here for a long time..' he said getting up from chair.
'Well how was the wedding?' he changed the subject.
'It was nice, people were asking about you, you should have come..'
'Next time..'
'What next time? Now the couple has to produce a child for you to attend a wedding in the family..' she chided.
What did you do the whole day?' she asked.
'working, '
'kuch khaya pia?
'Nahin… I am hungry…..' get me something…
'Alright… han I want to say something too I couldn't get time to sit with the computer for two days I need to look into my farm please and please don't you start telling me….
'Okay.. okay… abh jao aur mereliyein kuch lao…..' he did not let her finish.
When Bani returned to her room He was not there she went to look for him in the study. He was sitting behind his pc..
'what are you doing?' she asked startling him.
'Checking mail….' He said hurriedly and tried to shut the computer she walked hurriedly towards him and said, 'Khabradhar bandh kiya tho…. Kuch tho kar rahein the chori chupe.. I am your wife I have every right to know what you're cooking behind the pc..'
'Bani… thum…' before he could turn it off she stood before him and looked at the screen. Her eyes widened and a laughter escaped her. 'Acha bachu tho yeh kar rahein the Jai Walia the farmer….' She burst out laughing…
Jai's cheeks grew pink. To cover his embarrassment he said, 'what's there to laugh so much Bani I just wanted to know why you are so addicted to it…'
'jhoote…you were playing look at the level you are in…' yeh tho mein sab ko batha doongi.. jai walia farmer…' she began to laugh again.. 'If you breathe one word out Bani I'll strangle you.' He threatened with a smile.
'phir bhi mein bathaongi….ankrhi sans niklne se phele tho mein yeh sab kho….'
'chup..' he caught her hand and pulled towards him.
'alright Jai under one condition …' she said turning to look at him.
He looked at her questioningly.
'Add me as your neighbor.'
