Who do you think has a chance of winning the Best Actor or Best Actress award next year?
---These are not arranged in order of who I think should win. It's random.---
Best Actor:
The first obvious nomination is Shahid. Kaminey was more than just brilliant. It is indescribable how Shahid totally internalized two characters who are completely different, in terms of looks, body language, and characteristics. The way that he effectively carried off the speech impediments will go down in history in terms of his career. Even if I wasn't a fan, I would honestly hope for Shahid to win the award because at such a young age, he became his characters and convinced the audience that there are two different people up on screen. Not to mention that Kaminey is amongst one of the highest rated films of the year! 👏
My second nomination choice would be Saif in Kurbaan. This is yet to release, but knowing Saif and hearing about Rensil from Desu 😆, I am nearly certain that Saif will surpass some of his best roles by playing a terrorist in this movie.
Amitabh Bachchan in Paa will definitely be nominated. He is in his 60s, playing a 12 year old boy with a genetic disorder. It is utter genius, and I don't even have the right to mention Amitabh's acting prowess.
[Just to let you all know - I am a whacko Shahid fan, but I am not a Saif or Amitabh fan. I have a bit more of a bias towards Shahid and it was easier to talk about his character since his film has released. I have no doubt in Saif and Amitabh's acting skills and know they will be amazing in their roles.]
Best Actress:
Rani Mukerji for Dil Bole Hadippa because she played a fun, energetic character, switching between a man and a woman effortlessly while simultaneously convincing the audience that she can play cricket! Props to the queen!
Priyanka Chopra for What's Your Raashee?/Kaminey. Playing twelve roles! She's an amazing actress and every review I've read has praised her. I'm sure that she'll do an amazing job in WYR. Although she had an eight scene role in Kaminey, she was brilliant and perfectly apt for the film. She lit up the screen with Sweety Shekhar Bhope, and the combination of Kaminey and WYR should prove to be a winning card for Priyanka!
Kareena Kapoor for Kurbaan and 3 Idiots. What can I say - even "non-fans" (I prefer not to use the term hater) like me will admit that when Kareena acts, dude, she acts! Again, Rensil has my faith, and I am certain that Kareena will be amazing. I'm not particularly interested in 3 Idiots, but Kareena certainly is, and I trust Aamir's choice in films. She will probably deliver two awesome performances, so she's definitely a contender, as well!
[This is slightly more biased because I am a fan of both Rani and Priyanka. I am not a fan of Kareena's.]
Vidya Balan might prove to be a surprise in Ishqiya and Paa, so while I did not mention her, she hasn't completely left my mindframe as a possible contender.
