| | | | Mallika Bhatia at the multiplex | The blood and gore in Sanjay Gupta's Zinda has not gone down well with everybody. Definitely not with model-turned-actress Mallika Bhatia, who threw up and fainted while watching the Sanjay Dutt-starrer at an Oshiwara multiplex last night.
The 37-year-old, who played a Pakistani commando in Hindustan Ki Kasam (1999), could not endure a gruesome scene where Baljeet Roy (Dutt) extracts the teeth of Mak (Raj Zutshi) with a hammer.
Zinda has many such unpalatable scenes, which has fetched the film an adult certification. Many other women in the audience also vomited in the wash room during the film.
Surprisingly, Priyanka, Bhatia's 14-year-old daughter, had no such problems and ended up attending to her mother. "I really don't know what happened to mom, she rushed out to the wash room after which she fainted in the lobby," she said.
The guest relation team at the multiplex helped revive Bhatia. "We administered first aid and offered some juice. It took her around 20 to 25 minutes to get back to her senses," said a senior staff of the multiplex.
Speaking to Mid Day Bhatia said, "It is bizarre how an acclaimed director like Gupta could make such an abnormal film." Two other women in the audience, Shefali Seth and Mansi Narayan, were also repulsed.
"I too threw up all that I had eaten. It is absurd and sick. The saving grace of the film is Sanjay Dutt. We left the hall after around 90 minutes of the screening. Zinda makes you feel murda," said Narayan, adding that the Censor Board should not have passed such ghastly visuals.
Hanif, production executive of White Feather films, who produced Zinda, said he had not heard of the incident and had nothing to comment.
Another technician of the film further said, "The movie is for mature audiences, and has been certified 'Adult' by the Censor Board. The viewers can decide for themselves if they want to watch it or not."
Sanjay Gupta was not available for comment. |
