This is a story of four friends who are family men. They are parents and grandparents to someone. These friends have spent their whole life nurturing their children with lots of love and care. They sacrificed their necessities and wishes in order to fulfill those of their children. They gave them everything that they wanted and invested their lives in them. Their world revolved around their kids. But later when they needed support and someone to fall back on, their loved ones deserted them. They are left with nothing. Their own children cheated on them and now they have nothing else in life to look forward to, as though the world they were living in was illusionary and everything just finished. They have no identity and respect in their own family and they face rejection and humiliation. They still think about their children and are ready to forsake their own house, friends and money for the happiness of their children. This resilient group of child hood friends and their wives provide moral support to each other as they are all in the same situation and are able to identify each ones condition.

This story is a complete portrayal of how old couples are treated in families, how they cope up with disregard from their children and how they come out strong from the perils thrown towards them by life in their "second childhood".

"Basera" depicts a very sensitive issue of today's society and gives a hope to all those senior people who are going through the same situation in life i.e. to come out of their gloominess and fight for their rights, self respect and identity in society.
