Agree with Rachna, sillykitty and rainabow.

Of course Gauri should not become someone she is uncomfortable with, but is she so comfortable now in those heavy saris and jewelry? The jewelry must be leaving permanent scars on her neck and elongating her earlobes like crazy!

I don't want Gauri to get a crazy makeover, but just a more simple and dignified look would be nice. The way she is dressed now makes it look like she has never before in her life seen embroidery or gold metal. What she needs is to become a confident and more mature woman. It's unrealistic, like Rachna says. Saji hui bakri lagti hai.. bilkul balidaan ke pehle.

Also, I hate this cliched and overrated dialogue "So-and-so must accept me the way I am." NEWSFLASH Gauri: the way you dress is not who you are as a person! It is an exterior, we all change it according to comfort, fashion and cultural requirements. That's a fact of life. If your stupid saris defined you as a person, then GOD help you!!

Secondly, even who we are as a person needs to be open to change. We are not static paper dolls, we are human beings who make mistakes, learn from them, and face new challenges everyday. If it's the case that you should be accepted by Akash the way you are, then you should accept Akash as a playboy.. will you do that? Doesn't he need to change that? And in the same way, why would ANYONE want to accept a woman who has no individuality or personality, and simply makes chai on time?

Gosh! This show is so stupid, I can't believe my eyes!! I bet the creatives think that Gauri's dialogue about not changing herself is very progressive.. it came across like a 12-year old girl who feels freshly "empowered" by watching a Hollywood chick flick! No maturity or practicality at all.

I think that she really believes her sarees give her meaning, or else why would she decline Devyani's suggestion? Doesn't she realize that if Akash really wanted a decorated tree for a wife, he could have gotten just that. 🤢

Great post Arti! Spot on. Gauri is totally out of tune with what Akash actually wants. She thinks she will win him over by behaving like a chaiwallah and cooking his favorite dishes...but that is not the kind of woman he finds attractive at all. She is under the impression that her chauvinist father and submissive mother were the perfect couple, so she tries to emulate Savitri. Why, I don't know. Savitri and Suryakant do not really come to mind when I think of the ideal marriage.

While Akash is a playboy and has a lot of negative qualities regarding women, at the very least, he seems to be attracted to independent and modern women. He likes working women. He likes them to be educated and to USE their educaton. For all his faults, this is probably one of his best qualities. Unfortunately it will also be the one thing about him that will change.

I think Devyani's approach to "changing" Gauri was very miscalculated and silly though. There is a rather large middle ground between dressing like a "model" and dressing the way Gauri does now.

Altering her appearance a bit is probably the easiest thing she could do to get Akash's attention, but she is too "principled" to do that. What rubbish. If anyone here is being shallow, it's her, for thinking that a few simple tweaks in her dress would somehow transform her into a completely different person (oh if only).

She's plain thick-headed and what she needs is a reality check. I am a frequent visitor at Utsav and I don't even find those types of sarees there!!!! Even the cheapest sarees look better than what she wears.

It sounds like a small problem, but her appearance weighs a lot more in Akash's eyes.
You know how the writers are inconsistent with their plots, I wish that they would do the same with Gauri's character.
