Well, dont know whether most of you are aware of this thing or not, but recently there was a lot of controversy regarding the use of animal and human bones, and other body parts in the aayurvedic medicines....in India!

many allegations were made that Swami Ramdev (who's a yoga instructor and is into this whole aayurvedic medicines thing), uses animal and human body parts while making these medicines, and this is unethical and illegal.

So, i wanna know....what's your take on the issue?

Do you think this issue deserved all the importance and coverage it got from the media?

Do the ingredients of the medicine really count if it can cure your diseases?

Have you ever tried any kind of aayurvedic medicine? or do you prefer the usual allopathy meds?

so, post in your thought now>>>>>>

Soojie good topic.
According to me usage of animal bones is not a criminal activity. When we intake their flesh for food, why not for medicines which can cure most of the diseases and bring happiness in people.

Firstly Great topic !

Do you think this issue deserved all the importance and coverage it got from the media?

Well,i think it did.after all media is supposed to higlight issues that that concern the public.and this oen surely did.

Firstly cuz so many people follow Ramdevji maharaj(i think this sis his name..srry if i m wrong..)and have blind faith in him and what he teaches and preaches.

Secondly...cuz this is a issue worth the hype...cuz.. many consider..vegetarianism to be best policy n neva even touch non-veg and for such ppl when out of teh blue..teh news of animal products beign used in medicines is heard..tehy go..balluistic..and i dont blame them for it...

Do the ingredients of the medicine really count if it can cure your diseases?

Ummmm....for pure veg. people I am sure religion wise they count..(see peopel have a lot of faith on GOD and are serious abt religion and stuff....and whats rith whats wrogn accordign to tehir religion..etc etc)

for animal lovers I am sure it counts too cuz tehy cant bear teh thougth of animal products beign used in medicines...

But the whole point is not if the ingreient is made of animal product/otherwise..it's if it treats ur illness and makes u fit n fine or not.!

so ppl shd see teh effects rather than ingredients of products...cuz ur life is more impt than superficial things like wht's in teh medicien tahts curing u..( eg. ppl use leeches to extract impure blood...it sounds gross😡i know but if doc tells u that this is teh only remedy u'll go ahead right?or u'll choose to suffer n die.. but not use leeches..?)So it's the same issue....forget teh ingredients .. see the effects...😊

But I heard that in teh ingredients....animal products ahve not been mentioned...so this is wrong.!peopel have a rigth to knowledge..and shd ask whats in teh mddicine.....

but this issue it seems....is cooled off now... i heard that the samples taken were nt fm ramdev ji maharaj's prodn place...tahts what i hrd...😳

Have you ever tried any kind of aayurvedic medicine? or do you prefer the usual allopathy meds?

I have used both !👏

whatever suits me for a particular ailment...

DID i bore you guys?😕

srry if i did !😊

The Charakh Samhita, the Bible of Ayurveda, mentions use of animal products in medicines, its percentage is negligible. What's the big deal?

The biomedical industries, like Amgen, Wyeth, Genetch ,etc.. in the world, which are very few in number, use the culture of DNA and animal tissues to process the medicines needed to save the critical patients. When a patient suffering from Cancer or a renal dylasis uses Epogen, Nepogen, Embrel or Sensipar, does he/she stop to think what it is made of ? I think not. They do not know that what they are taking in is made up of genetic mutations of DNA processed in these exceeding advanced Genetic Enginnering plants.

Most of them are in form of tablets taken orally. The World Bio Science bodies make it mandatory for the Bio Medical firms to make their components known. Yet do people suffering from deadly terminal diseases have the ability to go through the ingredients and then reject it at the cost of their life? I don't think so.

So if Ayurvedic medicines make use of animal components, why the problem. Ultimately it cures. I have a great faith in Ayurvedic medicines and I have seen the miracles it can perform if persued properly.

I, for one, have felt that most of the negative publicity directed at the alternative medicines are done to discourage them from becoming main stream. Most of the Ayurvedic medicines are based on herbs, and many of them are actually getting recognition from the top allopathic institutions like Harvard Medical School etc in the world. The use of animal compounds as far as I know is few and far between, the same as it is in allopathic medicines. So if they are no objected to in the allopathy, why in Ayurveda??

very well crafted reply, i have personally experienced homeopathy works, though it takes longer time than allopathic medicine, at least it does not have the side effects and it gives a cure of a permanent nature.

Infact homeopathy is preferred medicine by members of Royal Family in England and is practiced in the USA for more than 170 years and also widely used in the Europe and Asia.

Replying pointedly to author, alternative medicines do help and as long as they cure the ill, what the medicine contains is of consequence.

I too have great faith in Ayurvedic medicine and I have also seen its results. To be frank you will see more Ayurvedic medicine in my medicine closet compared to other medicines. I totally agree with what Minnie said. The issue is mainly to discourage them. I have also seen some allopathy Dr's arguing about some long time side effects for Ayurvedic medicine....but they are ignoring the fact that allopathy medicine are proven to have long term and short term side effects ...so it's not like ther medicine is the best and can't harm anyone. It is just to discourage the way Ayurveda is getting popular lately.
