Nowadays, youth is more and more getting involved in shoplifting, stealing, lying to parents, using cigarettes, drugs, and alcohol, having unsafe sex and getting pregnant, copying celebrities to impress friends. Often, they do so under the influences of peer pressure.
How should youth combat these negative influences of peer pressure which involve making decisions based on moral questions ❓

First and foremost these things ought to be tackled my parents .They must look out for their kids . As teens they become uncommunicative , and start living in a world which silently reads "parents keep out" . This is where parents must involve themselves even if the kids find it nagging .

secondly - its every friend responsibility to make sure their friend doesn't stray . He / she may feel telling an elder is like being a snitch . No , when its a question of life and death ......your freind will certainly thanks you later !!

School- There ought to be awareness seminars . Some sort big brother leading the younger brother by an example.

more later from me.

Peer group can have both negative & positive influence on teens...

so proceedign to what d discussion is all about...I think Parents have to inculcate a sense of right & wrong in their kids... kids/teens to choose their pals..it'snot like ppl drag u or kiil u if u dont become their friend..so before becomign some1s pal..you ought to know if he/she will be good influence or bad.

Peer Pressure is very comman n i agree that succumbign to peer pressure ppl are oign astray...but hey.. you should have the will power ro say no when ur pals want u to join them in say..smoking..a few drinks..etc..it's ur inner voice..which ultimately guides u..but only if..u have the will power to say NO>..and a sense of doign rigth things in life...

To stop the youth from spoiling the parents should be aware of the media first.
They should not allow a teen to view late night movies and should not allow them to surf net in their absences. They should be very friendly with their kids. They can also have a good rapport with their kids friends and their parents. They also should learn to encourage their kids in sports, and whatever extra curricular activities they are interested in.Good communication with their kids teachers also help them a lot.
Most important is they should teach their kids about the world, problems they faced, sex education, side effects of Drinks and so on.They should make them realize the life of a film star, their sufferings..A kid grown up with such influences 99% will not go in the wrong way..

I agree that parents should take appropriate steps to keep their children away from the negative influences, But what should youth do from not getting into these morally wrong habits. Parents can look after their children when they live with them, but how can the teenagers fight the negative influences when they stay in dormotaries and hostels, where it is easy to get influenced by peer?
Some parents teach their children the moral values so effectively that their children won't fall into the trap of negative influences in any situation, but what about the others who were not appropriately taught?

me too agree with the fact that its the parents and the school's responsibility to inculcate in kids....the right values n' morals....

because if a person has a stong character, if he's a determined n' strong willed person...i dont think any amount of negative influences can spoil him! but then...the duty 4 building up one's character is obviuosy....shared by the parent n' teachers, right?!.... 😊 😊
