I think entire mentality of Indian society is changing. People take pride in following western culture. Young kids don't communicate in their mother tongue any more! In big cities the dress culture of the teenagers has completely changed. Pub culture has increased tremendously. Virtues such as humility, straightforwardness and attitude of "Kam se matlab" are considered rudeness and shortcomings!

If this trend continues, I will not be surprised if kids of NRIs start giving performances of indian classical music in next few years, where as kids in India are busy watching MTV!

I am still not ready to believe that NIhira is gone, but if she really is then one thing is for sure that even Lata Mangeshkar would not have won this "prestigious" show!!!!!😭

I must tell u that u sdn't cry like this.....believe me the best will win...however it be....

This is not sony TV's Indian idol and fame gurukul show...everyone is doing hard work....the [rogram is not rigged i suppose...

so don't make fuss about nihira.....

Well you see the point of the contest is to find the best singer not singer/preformer. If you wan't singing and preforming I think the public is watching the wrong show. Watch Indian Idol or Fame, look at all those besura people winning just because of the preformance factor. Most of these singers won't even preform live instead they will all be playback singers where preformance does not county wee bit. So if preformance is what your looking for than I suggest you switch to another channel

I don't know where this confusion has come in that SRGMP is a reality show. Sure there are reality shows like Fame Gurukul and Indian Idol, which are modelled after certain western shows, where public voting is premised on both performance and singing.

However SRGMP in all it's sense sa re ga ma pa means one who has the complete mastery of these surs and one who can be used for playback singing. Period. It is immature people, or people who do not have any undersatnding of music that argue otherwise. It is not a programme about hip shaking or feet hopping. there are enough clowns in this world who can do that. But how many of them can actually sing.

Nihira is out because of ignoramus people of India, and it is these people who will set in the worst debacle of Indian music ever seen. If you have voted for XYZ, say u have voted becasue u liked their hips, or faces or jhatkas, don't say that u voted for music. At least be honest on that front.

bluemangos/kaboo 123, you seem to get me wrong....initially it was thought that sa re ga ma pa was a singing show only but with public voting kicking off, i am sure you have noticed that even the mentors want their shishyas to perform....It is sad that such a highly rated show is going to dumps due to the recent public voting system which has caught the fancy of Gajendraji...Poor gajendraji, he is trying to emulate other channels and thus leading to all these confusions...But we cannot say that all is lost as there are still sum good singers left in the challenge.

Most of times Nihira got lees marks than Himani from mentors...so she has to be out.....so junta is right.

Did Gaji specify that to people that the selection is now based on hip shaking? As far as i recall, in each episode, mentors have been appealing to people to select the best singer. I don't recall a single episode where they said select the best dancer. Maybe it is a problem in the comprehension level of youngsters, who probably do not believe in listening, as it is too taxing to listen.
