Pride and Prejudice - what was and what is

I am not going to talk about the story of the play in MJHT as I havent understood it yet.

Let us see at what we know

and what I know is only WHO is supposedly playing what and are they indeed playing the specific character!

Elizabeth Bennet/Esha-lively, attarctive and witty. Nupur is indeed lively attractive ans witty but the Elizabeth/Esha in the play has always been portrayed as the lovestruck persona. We can still assume this Lizze/Esha to be the one who realises Varun/Will Darcy helped her family and she is indebted to him. SOmehow remotely with grteat difficulty we can attribute the Esha we saw to the Lizze in a bind.

William Darcy:handsome, intelligent, arrogant to strangers but really valued by those who love him. the Varun in the play can only be related to the loverboy Darcy which never forms the basis for his interaction. As is the case, we have probably seen ONLY sayank and Mayur scenes which show the incomplete man. Shouldnt there have been some RV-mayank scene to portray the other side of THE DARCY!

THE BIGGEST COMPLAINT I HAVE:
Jane Bennet/Jahnvi!
BY PnP Jahnvi is SWEETER, SHYER than Lizzie/Esha. Jahnvi is supposed to be a little more demure then why on earth she is portraying smaller and sexier clothes I do not understand.


The best character I have seen in the play is RV or rather hisr eal character in MJHT is closer to what RV is and I can see him as the sole character who is indeed close to.

On a deeper thought Samrat, RV and Dia dont really have much scenes in the play and it is again a loophole! Niether does Sheena have much scenes but her characterization irks me because she is SO not Jane! Gunjan will certinly have been a better Jane. Or Sheena may have been a better Jane too if ONLY they bothered to cover her up!

I am no prude and I am NOT saying they should have told the complete story of the classic play in MJHT. I for one cant hope to see the end of the drama as it is affecting my favourites in the show!


The creatives should not have tampered with THIS CLASSIC in teh name of creativity!

RV dia and samrat though ..from the little we have seen can say are trying to be alittle closer to character oh well or that may be because they were hardly shown in scenes

mayank actually does remind me of mr. darcy..he can be quite mean at times..and his compliments dont really sound like compliments..but, when u ask people like his mom or housekeeper, in the book, he is really sweet..like mr. darcy =)

and gunjan reminds me of jane..she is so quiet and timid..i love her..also, jane always studies or does something..like gunjan.. =)

nupur is a total Lizzie..both are head-strong and stubborn.. also, she makes assumptions rather quickly also..=S

also, i think sheena is more like lydia..cause in the original book, lydia was quite rowdy..she always got kitty, i think, involved in her schemes..and she flirted with officers alot..hey, now that i think of it, thats kinda like dia..but i think its more sheena..

rv playes mr. wickham so well!!! both are sly..and superficial..mr. wickham ruined mr. darcys sister's life..i dont like him..=/

and samrat, i forgot what character he plays..i think its mr. bingley..well, i think samrat is okay..i mean, he is charming, and mr. bingley seemed charming to the girls ( thought i found him plain) and samrat is also quite charming =)

I dont even want to get into the details. but from the beginning it looked like a teenage romantic flick to me. I could never remotely see any relation to PNP and I am rather happy they didnt use the same name, neither did they emphasize on the personalities of PNP characters. I dont think I have that much humor to see DARCY and Elizabeth being ridiculed. so for me it never was PNP..

Sadly I don't either *sigh* But woe is me that I'm an MN fan and I had to see THEM being used as a tool to ridicule Darcy and Elizabeth beyond imagination :S


@Caro: Awesome post! 👏👏 Totally agree......RV's the only one who seems apt for his character as Wickham.....the bad boy...even if kinda OTT at times😆😆
