Ameesha Patel’s luxury bag confession leaves Farah Khan shocked: ‘Could buy a Mumbai penthouse’

Ameesha Patel has always carried the image of a South Bombay girl with ease, long before her film debut in Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai. Away from the spotlight though, her interests extend to a very expensive passion: luxury fashion. The actor has been collecting designer bags since the age of 12, and today her wardrobe houses nearly 400 pieces, many of them worth several lakhs and some even running into crores.

This extravagant collection was recently revealed when filmmaker and choreographer Farah Khan visited Ameesha’s home. In a vlog that quickly caught attention online, Farah appeared astonished by the scale of her closet. “I have never seen Ameesha repeat her bag. She must be having the maximum number of designer bags in the industry,” she remarked at the start of the video.

Ameesha, smiling at the reaction, confirmed, “I own about 300–400 luxury bags, apart from the clutches and belt bags in my collection.” She also mentioned another expensive interest: collecting high-end watches.

One particular corner of her wardrobe drew Farah’s eye. Pointing to a section stacked with Hermès Birkins, she said in disbelief, “This cupboard is filled with Ameesha’s Birkin bags.” Often referred to as the world’s most exclusive handbag, a Birkin can cost anywhere between ?2 crore and ?3 crore. To keep the massive assortment in order, Ameesha even maintains a detailed list pasted inside her closet, marking out which shelf carries which piece.

One such list read: “Shelf 7: Hermes Yellow Evelyn, Hermes Baby Pink Evelyn, Hermes Fuschia Pink Evelyn, Hermes Orange Evelyn, Hermes Powder Blue Evelyn, Hermes Mini Red Evelyn, Hermes Mini White Evelyn, Dior Denim Saddle Bag, Fendi Phone Case, LV Phone Case.”

The tour didn’t end there. Ameesha carefully unwrapped a Saint Laurent bag from its cover, prompting Farah to exclaim, “This is a bag I have wanted for so long ever and ever but it is…” She trailed off, making it clear she couldn’t justify the price.

Later, the two examined an orange Bottega Veneta. Farah explained to viewers, “This is one of the most expensive brands in the world: Bottega Veneta.” Ameesha described it as “a little traditional colour,” to which Farah agreed, noting she had never even seen that shade before.

Ameesha, laughing at the growing disbelief, quipped that if she had saved instead of splurging, she would probably own a penthouse in Mumbai today.
