I appreciate your views willows, i also believe that decency like morality is a perception and most of the times it is in the minds, what is decent and indecent depends on the values you cherish and practice.

If you a person is groomed as per conservative values for him or her wearing mini skirt and tank tops woudl like blamshepy, however a liberals would not feel it is scarliegious to wear skimpy or short clothes, they would go about with what they like to wear whether apporpirate to the ocassion or not, for they are concerned about how they look and not what others feel about them.

I believe society consists of both liberals and otherwise and we need to respect everybody's sensibilites and sort of follow a middle path.

The person wearing should take due care as well as the society should give the freedom of choice to all without making any issue out of it.

i totally agree with the fact that ones attire has to be appropriate to the occasion. and decency also varies from place to place ie what may be considered ok in the city may be looked upon as indecent when u go to u'r village.

but to a large extent decency is not limited just to the person wearing the dress. in our indian context i have to add that whether one is in a revealing outfit or covered from head to toe oglers will ogle 😕 .

another thing that needs to be taken into account is the attitude of the wearer. for eg. take the sari it can be worn as a perfectly respectable outfit or depending on the wearer a very revealing outfit! what one person can carry off without pushing the limits of decency can be worn by someone else to look mighty indecent.

to put it in a nutshell what i would consider to be a decent outfit is one that i can be comfortable wearing in front of my father and brother.

Boys & girls, doesn't matter what they are wearing. What matters is where they are wearing it. To wear a mini-skirt at the temple is indecent & to wear a saaree at a club is indecent. To wear a suit in the gym is indecent & to wear a pajama at work is indecent. Now...see it...Mr. beleive.

On the other hand, the clothing should not reveal so much that the sorrounding people feel uncomfortable. It should be comfortable for the person wearing it & the people he/she is in.
