Ramlaal! It's a name that perhaps is erased from public memory but for actors of Mere ghar aayi ek nanhi pari, their hearts still beat for it.
If one remembers, this DJ's show was first titled as Ramlaal and was all but set to make its way on 9X until the cash-strapped channel stopped beaming fresh programming. DJ's took their show to Colors but Ramlaal died the moment this happened.
Colors weren't going to feast on a pie that was prepared for someone else and so, they rightfully asked for a new recipe. Ramlaal was put in the bin and the new dish that emerged was Mere ghar aayi ek nanhi pari. While, this dish was liked by the channel sadly the viewers are not able to digest it. Nanhi pari has found the going tough and is hardly been getting TRPs of 1. Questions over the show's future are bound to rise.
"Though we haven't heard from the officials, rumour has it that our show is under the scanner. Either it could come to an end or we could shift to another slot to accommodate Rajan Shahi's show," says an actor.
When asked what's not working for the show, the actor gives a familiar reply.
"The show is simply not what it was meant to be. We liked the story of Ramlaal and that is why we signed for the show. However, when it came to Colors the storyline was changed completely. Here it became all about nanhi pari. There's not much exciting about this track. Ramlaal was a story of how this expatriate from Pakistan comes to India and makes a living by selling sweets. Later, he goes on to establish his empire. This was a wonderful track and I'm sure had they persisted with it, the viewers would have like it too," said the actor.
Another actor adds, "It's disappointing that the earlier story was shelved. For close to a year, we actors remained loyal to the show because we believed in it. The female lead, who waited patiently all this while, was replaced. Unfortunately, things haven't gone right for us since then."
