Hellow guys! 🤗
So, I tried my hand at comedy, and failed miserably. I wanted to say one thing, and something else came out. 😆 But whatever, I is still proud of it, so here it is! Inspiration credit goes to Radz di (Ardhana13) for a one-shot she wrote revolving around OTH. Jamie. ☺️ Toned it down a lil, but hten it was not funny, so I changed the actual idea of it, so it's not really what Radz di wrote like, but still. If she did not write the one-shot then I would have never written this, so insperation credit still goes to her! Enjoy!-|~~|-
Tannu slid down the banister, leaving a black streak down her shirt, a stain she wore with pride, no matter what her mother said. Prem Mammu always said to be proud in your work, so that's what she was doing. After all, she thought wisely, you should always listen to your elders. Even if they were balding.
Skipping through the hall, she frowned to herself. She prided herself at always asking someone in the house once a day if they needed help and doing her best to complete the task. She continued skipping off in the direction of Meher Maami's room. It was always fun helping Meher Maami who was constantly arguing or complaining about Preet Mammu. Turning the corner, Tannu surveyed the scene in front of her.
"Get OUT!" yelled Meher, throwing a blanket and pillow at Preet's head who was dancing out of her reach, taunting her.
"So I said that color makes you look fat! At least I tell the truth! Would you rather someone like PB, who keeps telling Bhabhi she looks like a chand and whatnot?"
Close to tears, Meher's arms slumped to her side. Stammering through her tears, she said "Oh, just get me ... someone like ... RAJ!"
Slamming the door in the still chuckling face of her husband, Meher stormed back in the room, leaving Preet and Tannu standing outside. Turning around, Preet noticed Tannu standing there. Enveloping her into a big bear hug, he set her on his hip asking her;
"How's my favorite girlfriend?"
Giggling, she punched him in the gut. "Mammu, I am your only girlfriend!"
Grinning bashfully at her Preet played along. "Which explains why you are my fave. Now, I have work for you? Will you help me?" He hesitated. "Can you go tell Mammi that I love her very much and I don't care how many pounds she gains, she will always rule my heart?"
Musing over it, because after all, she was taking the risk of facing her Mammi's wrath, Tannu contemplated over the idea, thoughtfully gazing around. Preet gently made her face him and ever so slightly pouted. Smiling at him, Tannu rubbed her fingers together, letting him know she was not going to do anything without payment.
He sighed. Reaching over into his pocket, he pulled out a slab of chocolate, miffed he had to let it go, but he knew his work would be done. Ruffling her hair, Preet went down to the kitchen to find himself an after-dinner while Tannu skipped off in the direction of her Mammi's room.
~~~
Heer stood in front of a closet, folding away her husband's clothes, smiling to herself at the thought of Prem. The name itself caused her to shiver all over. Grinning at his shirt, she didn't notice Tannu walk into the room with a mournful expression. Walking over to her Mammi, Tannu stood, leaned against her Mammi's legs. Noticing her niece there, Heer smiled down at her, giving her a side hug.
"Tannu! Tu abhi tak kyun jaagri? Tumhare sone ka time hogaya na?"
Putting on the most angelic expression she could muster, Tannu sighed. "Woh ... Preet Maamu na mujhe kaam diya."
Heer sighed. It was just like her brother - in - law to push off work to others, even if he was over twice their age. "Kya kaha Preet Mammu?"
"Preet Mammu mujhse kaha, ki mein aap se kehna ki 'he loves you very much, and no matter how many pounds you gain, you will always rule his heart.'" Tannu ended with an exaggerated sigh as she watched Heer's eyes pop out and he face turn multiple shades of red.
Heer felt her knees give away. Leaning against the closet, she weighted what Tannu had just told her. Preet? Preet as in her adorable brother - in - law? She ruled his heart? She ruled the heart of her sister's husband? What would Meher think? How could she face Meher? How could she face Prem? How could she face her whole family? Something clicked in her head, as she registered another part of Tannu's monologue. He would still love her if she gained a few pounds? Automatically she turned to look at herself in the mirror, she was not fat! Not from any angle. Prem told her she looked like the chand every day! But the chand is round and plump is it not? Stunned, she fell back on the bed, not sure if she was more distressed over Preet's confession or the true meaning of Prem's words.
Clearing her throat, Tannu interrupted her Mammi's thoughts and said, in the same dull, sad voice. "Maami, woh Preet Mammu mere poore chocolates le gaye." she ended with a pout. Still numb to the core, Heer nodded at the small girl, rummaged around the room and handed Tannu a chocolate bar, who took it and walked out of the room as fast as her short legs could carry her, leaving Heer in a literal state of shock.
Meher sat fuming, on the corner of her bed. What had she done to get stuck with Preet? Why was there no dream guy in real life? She was going to sue YashRajFilms for bringing her hopes up so much. Still seething, Meher, noticed a small, dark headed girl enter the room and smiled wildly at Tannu, who smiled back at her, and settled herself in to the nook of Meher's arm. Both sat in silence for a couple of minutes, before Tannu spoke up.
"Maami?"
"Hmm?"
"Aap Preet Mammu se pyar nahin karthe?"
Shocked, Meher turned to look at Tannu who gazed back at her with wide, imploring eyes.
"Nahin Tannu, asi baath nahin hai. Bas, itna besharam hai, aur baadmash aur kabhi kabhi toh asa diktha ki dimmage bhi nahin chaltha!"
Taking all that in from her aunt, Tannu sat in silence, planning her next move.
"Par, Mammi, I think you should apologize."
Looking down at her, Meher felt a melting sensation, her anger at Preet beginning to thaw.
"Can you tell him for me?"
Jumping up, grabbing her opportunity Tannu nodded vigorously. Meher grinned back at her and said, "OK, do you think you can tell him I am very sorry?"
"Jee Mammi. Par Mammi, you should add a compliment. Mammu LOVES compliments!"
"You think?"
"Yes." giggled Tannu.
"Umm, 'kay tell him that I am sorry and that I love his smirk?" Meher said hesitantly. It was the first thing that popped out of her mouth, something she was sure going to regret in the time to come.
"kay." said a grinning Tannu, skipping out of the room to go do her 'task' to the best of her ability.
Sighing, Prem stopped typing, letting his fingers slump. Even though it was an off day, he had spent the majority of the day finalizing details for a huge project coming up, forcing him to shut himself in a room all day. Turning around at the sound of a creak, he saw Tannu, hesitantly peeking in.
"Hey Princess, come in!"
Happy at the compliment, Tannu skipped in, twirling around her dress, smiling at her Mammu who could always make her blush and smile. Helping herself on to his knee she blurted it out. "I have a very important message for you!"
Prem's eyes twinkled as he smiled at her. "Yea?"
"Yup." Tannu nodded to match Prem's movements, "from Maami."
"Oh?" said a shocked Prem. Heer refused to disturb him while he worked, something was obviously up.
"Not Heer Mammi, Meher Mammi."
"Oh." The disappointment was evident in his voice. He lifted a glass of water to his lips. "What did Meher say?"
Looking thoughtfully up at the ceiling, Tannu remembered, "That she is sorry and she loves your smirk." Tannu jumped out of the way to avoid the jet of water Prem spit out of his mouth.
"Sorry Princess, but are you sure? Positive that Heer Mammi didn't say that?"
"Pakka. I didn't even see Heer Mammi today." With that proclamation, Tannu skipped out as she had come in, leaving Prem to wonder when the hell he had ever, in all his being, smirked, that to at Meher?
His eyes widened at the thought of what Heer would say if she found out that her sister was - ahem - nurturing a - crush for him? He stood up, ready to go give her a hug to make sure that feeling was one-sided. Meher was only his sister - in - law. Nothing else, he thought to himself, as if convincing someone, even though no one was in the room.
~~~
Heer jumped as she heard Prem open the door. She busied herself in arranging her items on the dresser, while keeping her senses on high alert. She could hear him walking up behind her. All of a sudden, he enveloped his hands around her waist, burying his face into her hair. Her worry about if he would notice if something was up between her and his brother vanished as she shut her eyes. He murmured in her ear;
"Aaj toh tum bohat aachi lagri ho."
Heer smiled softly.
Teasingly, he whispered; "Meri chandu."
Heer's eyes snapped open and she flung away Prem's arms form her, turning around to face him.
"Kya kaha tum ne?"
Prem stammered, not sure what was causing her sudden burst and change of emotion. "Woh .. tum meri...chand jaise ho na? Isliye maine...chandu kaha...mujhe cute laga?"
Heer laughed hysterically. "Cute? CUTE? Saach saach bolo Prem, mein tumhe moti lagthi hoon na?"
"Kya, maine kab kahi! Haan agar tum moti bhi hothi tho, mein tabhi tumse itna pyar kartha."
"Acha, aab samaje mein aya, tum mere saath shaadi karke apne life ke saath compromise kiya?"
"What? Kya hogay tumhe? Paagal hogayi kya?"
Wiping at her tears, Heer angrily said, "Haan, mein toh paagal hi thi, jo kabhi tumhare pyar pe vishwaas kiya ... " she stormed out of the room, muttering wildly under her breath. Prem watched her go, his mouth hung wide open before snapping back into reality and hurriedly followed her.
~~~
Heer walked through the halls, nothing but the sound of her heavy footsteps ringing in the hallway.
"Bhabhi?"
Heer jumped, as Preet walked out of the shadows, a look of concern on his face. She remembered back to the message he had sent with Tannu and immediately pulled her duppata around her.
"Aap theek toh ho naa?"
He put a reassuring hand on her shoulder, making her snap and pull away as if he had shocked her.
"Haan Preet, mein theek hoon...woh...-"
"HEER!"
Screams could be heard, as both Preet and Heer turned to see a panting Prem emerge from a corner, ready to drop on his knees and ask for forgiveness for whatever his crime was. Seeing him, Heer swiftly ducked under Preet's arm and stormed out of the way.
"Kya hua?"
A soft voice entered the scene, belonging to Meher. At the sight of her, Prem jumped a mile, half walking, half running to stand behind Preet. Preet looked at Prem, then at Meher, and realization dawned on him as he whispered to his brother;
"She is scary naa?"
Meher's mouth dropped open and within a second she narrowed her jaw, eyes and lips into a straight, stiff, set line. She promptly turned on her heel and walked away, slamming the door to her room. A second later, a slam could be heard from across the hall, indicating that Heer had slammed her door as well.
Prem and Preet both looked at each other, marveling over the quick change in their wives moods.
"Women."
Tannu stuffed the last bit of chocolate in her mouth, and licked her fingers clean. Her work here was done.
