If you are interested in the Sun as a solar deity, not as it is, then here is some interesting information:
1. Africa: the The Munsh tribe considers the Sun to be the son of the supreme being Awondo and the Moon is Awondo's daughter. The Barotse tribe believes that the Sun is inhabited by the sky god Nyambi and the Moon is his wife.
2. Egypt: The Sun's movement across the sky represents a struggle between the Pharaoh's soul and an avatar of Osiris. Also, Sun worship was exceptionally prevalent in ancient Egyptian religion.
3. Aztec Mythology: Tonatiuh was the sun God in Aztec mythology. The Aztec people considered him the leader of Tollan, heaven. It was believed that the god demanded human sacrifice as tribute and without it would refuse to move through the sky.
4. Chinese mythology: there were originally ten suns in the sky, and the world was so hot that nothing grew. A hero called Hou Yi shot down nine of them with a bow and arrow. In another myth, the solar eclipse was caused by the dog of heaven biting off a piece of the sun.
5. Hindu mythology: The Sun God in Hinduism is an ancient deity, worthy of immense worship. He is called "Prati-Aksh Devta" meaning "The Seen Divinity" and worthy of much worship and reverence. He is considered an incarnation of Lord Narayana (Vishnu) and therefore, referred as 'Soorya-Narayana'.
6. Indonesia: The solar gods have a stronger presence in Indonesia's religious life and myth. Watching the Sun's path has given birth to the idea in some societies that the deity of the Sun descends in to the underworld without dying and is capable of returning afterward.
In fact, most of the ancient cultures had worshiped the Sun as one of their chief deities. As the sun is visible throughout the day and is the most prominent object in the sky, it was natural for the ancient people to associate it with some mythical figure and worship it.
Similar folklore stories exist about the reasons of solar eclipse which is nothing more than a shadow of the Moon over the Earth. Our ancestors saw eclipses as evil omens, often as portents of some catastrophic event or a sign from their deities. People of ancient China were convinced that eclipses Occurred because a great dragon (or toad, or dog) was eating the Sun. In Hindu mythology, the eclipse represents the demons Rahu and Keta locked in celestial combat and eating the Sun. As per the story, Rahu and Ketu had a sip of elixir and have become deathless, still taking the revenge from the Sun and the Moon by eating them during eclipses!
Every culture had made these stories as per their understanding of the mechanisms of celestial objects. The sun, being the main star near the Earth, was no exception and found itself as a deity in most of those cultuers.
Cheers!

No man.. why should I? Even I feel the same.. These are our faiths and they need no explanations.. the only thing is that we should never try to PROVE our faiths (which we are doing in this discussion so far).. If you try to prove your faiths, you may find it difficult. We can't prove that the Sun is the power source for the entire universe, as it is just an average star with average brightness and size. But why to prove our faiths? we believe the Sun as our God and we need no proof for that.. 😊
