Life-time achievement award to Vyjayanthimala, Yash Chopra

Pune, Dec. 26. (UNI): Noted actress of yesteryears Vyjayanthimala and film director and producer Yash Chopra will receive this year's Pune International Film Festival (PIFF) 'life-time achievement' award, Festival Chairman and MP Suresh Kalmadi said today.

The festival, being held between January 12 and 19, will be inaugurated by Information and Broadcasting Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunshi, Kalmadi told reporters here.

Of the 100 films being screened, 70 are foreign entries, PIFF Director Jabbar Patel informed.

A retrospective of two renowned women directors from Czechoslovakia and Hungary--Vera Chitrilova and Marta Mezaros--will be held apart from ten other films of popular and versatile French actress Isabelle Huppert, he said, adding that country reflection section will focus on Australia.

A new section--Marathi Milestone -- will be introduced this year and Marathi films like 'Ramshastri', 'Jagachya Pathivar' and 'Sangte Aika' will be screened.

The Maharashtra Government has announced two awards of Rs ten lakh and Rs five lakh for best international film and best international director respectively.
