Namaste dosto!

Do you think Government should mix with religion?

I know there can be different answers depending on the country in our mind, but generally speaking, not country centric; should govt mix w/ religion? Or kept separated?

This can be a controversial issue specialy in a country like in india which embraces many religions. But i think yes religion needs to have a place in government. This is mainly because government is made for the people and religion is an important part of people. Thefore, this issue cannot just be ignored in elections. What i would like to happen is for there to be an open discussion on relgion. It should not be a sensitive issue everyone should try to understand each others point of view and remember that at the end of the day we are all human beings no matter which religion we practice.

Everyone should be free to do whatever he she likes [as long as they aren't harming the others]...I really don't care if the individuals are going against religion or God...later God will take care of that. If they burn in hell for an eternity, that's their personal problem, no one ought to interfere there.
Since a country contains people of various beliefs, faith, religion, etc, it is important that the country does not run with a particular religious law, or otherwise it wouldn't be fair for the people who do not adhere with that particular religion.

Great answers-

I think it should be separated but at the same time, a common good should be governing the people and the laws etc..

I agree with you on this, to the last bit. Seriously, as much as I love Religion and Spirituality, I won't deny that Government and Religion minglingwith each other indeed had some profound affect on the earth. If someone wishes to live according to his scripture or lifestyle, then that's fine with me. The country/Government shouldn't be restricting them their right of doing that [as long as that is harming anyone]. But that doesn't mean everyone ought to be forced to do acts and things the religion/scripture demands; everyone has the right to chose his own life. Mixing religion with country Law or Governemt did have very bad effects in the past.

Yep ... that's needed. There has to be some sort of law by which everyone should be governed. A law that would be made from morality and ethics ...

Religion currently in India mixed with government is not good. Becasue Congress is completely Muslim supportive. I mean, come on! India was originally a Hindu country! They should give equal rights!!

this is really true, religion should not be forced upon other people and many religious state do this. the relationship between God and human being is the personal matter of every individual and not anybody else.

The government in India or anywhere else for that matter mixed with government is not good. the government shouldn't be favoring any religion at all and are supposed to treat people equally, but let them practice whichever faith that they want to practice and believe in. The start of violence is actually this, when people from different religious groups, different ethnicity and etc,. started to be treated differently.

I totally agree with this!!! people are supposed to be able to practice their religion whatever that is freely without any oppression from the government.
