Eljay, men like your friend's BIL are disgusting -- not just because they lust after their wives' sisters but also because they have the gall to externalise their thoughts as if it were the most natural thing to say. What did your friend's BiL think she was? Disgusting!

The sad thing about lecherous guys like this Elango is that they get away with it because we don't come out openly in our culture and accuse the men of doing it. At least, here in the US, people are a little more open about accusing men of such things, in India, I doubt if women would ever open up and talk about it. When I was in college, we certainly wouldn't have talked about it to our parents, which is why my friend used to spend the weekends in the hostel rather than go home whenever her sister and BIl were visiting. I didn't realize it at the time, but it is so scary when you think of it now, and I do hope more women are aware of the need to speak up.

I guess women wouldn't hesitate to speak up when some stranger hits on them. But if it is your own sister's husband who's hitting on you, one would tend to get into a state of denial and hope it was all in one's imagination. It's hard to believe your sister's husband is making advances towards you. You want to respect him; you don't want to spoil your sister's life. I guess that's the main reason why women these days still hesitate to bring up such lecherous cases to light.

Eljay your viewpoint about Indian women are more applicable to people of my generation. Present day youngsters are more bold ,open & smart .They don't take things lying down. They are not bogged down by social stigma or family reputation once they decide to unmask such people & teach them a lesson. Menfolk , now, really think twice before making wrong advances.[Scared of their reputation]. It is definitely a welcome change perceived both in urban & rural india.
