20 Slumdog child actors expelled from school over short attendance
'Slumdog Millionaire' has had far reaching repercussions on a vast number of lives. While the stars have risen, the little ones are struggling to get out of the darkness. Twenty child actors who missed their school shooting for the Oscar-winning movies have been expelled owing to shortage in attendance. 'Slumdog' might be a matter of pride for the whole of India, but academics are unimpressed.
The kids skipped school for two long months and devoted their all to shooting for the film. Fearing they won't be permitted if truth was out, they did not inform the school authority about the reason for absence.
Now that the time of reckoning has arrived, they have been left with nothing. Far from being appreciated for their hard work, the twenty unfortunates' names have been struck off the rolls.
Talking to Zeenews, the guileless kids sat unusually quite. One said, "Salman works hard and studies. But Azhar runs off to play."
"We want to study and grow up to be successful people. We wish our names are put back on the rolls."
The wistful eyes implored not to be rejected thus. Justice might need another chance to decide.
