Priyadarshan is now set to make his next film, yet another comedy (which the director asserts will not be a remake of his Malayalam hit), with Akshay Kumar and Govinda.
Govinda, keen on reinventing himself as an actor after a beleaguered run as an MP, says he is excited to work with a gifted filmmaker like Priyadarshan, with whom he has never had the opportunity to work before.
To this end, the actor has trimmed down — he is also working with Aparna Sen in her film, postponed by six months. "I am all set to do a few films like those of Priyadarshan, Aparnaji, and my favorite director, David Dhawan, with whom I have done 14 films," he quips.
Govinda, who is all set to make amends and rectify his earlier mistakes as far as his career is concerned, including being punctual, has also realised that if he has to revive his career it isn't just enough to work with arthouse filmmakers like Sen.
He knows it is essential to work in commercial films too, especially comedy movies with makers who have the knack for them — like David Dhawan, besides Priyadarshan.
Govinda has started working for yet another David Dhawan project called Partner, which has been launched by Sohail Khan, the younger brother of Salman Khan, in partnership with Kay Sera Sera at Mehboob Studios, a couple of days back. In this film, Salman Khan has been paired opposite Lara Dutta; Govinda is teamed with Katrina Kaif.
