Kareena Kapoor, who has bagged the role of Desdemona in the Bollywood version of Othello, is excited about her latest movie Dosti — Friends Forever releasing this Christmas season. Director Suneel Darshan's film is about the eternal friendship between of Bobby Deol and Akshay Kumar and she plays Akshay's love interest. "Dosti is the story of the strong bond of friendship, where circumstances are such that Akshay separates from me and Bobby tries to reunite us. There are many factors which put their friendship to the test. How their friendship survives in this cruel world is the crux of this movie," says Kareena. It is said that she did the film for the sake of her friend Darshan. "It's all about everlasting friendship. And this movie I've done for my friend Suneel. I know him since Karisma used to work with him. Suneel is a good friend. I made it a point to finish shooting for his film within 20 days." This is her fourth film with Akshay after Talaash, Aitraaz and Bewafaa. "It was fun working with Akki as we share a good rapport. I have known him since I was nine. In fact, I was behind the camera when he was giving his first shot. It's really great working with such a stunning personality," she adds. Talking about Nadeem-Shravan's music, she said, "Like Suneel's earlier hits, this movie too has melodious tracks composed by this famous duo." When asked about her best friend off screen, she didn't reveal much. She said, "Presently I'm absolutely engaged with my professional life, so acting is my best friend." She doesn't have many films in her kitty right now. Kareena said, "I am doing 36 China Town with Shahid (Kapoor) under the Mukta Arts banner and Love Story 2050 with Harman Baweja. You can say that I'm not doing many films in 2006." She is thrilled about her role in Vishal Bhardwaj's film Othello. She says, "I am very lucky that Vishal thought of casting me as Desdemona. It's a dream role for any actress, as it features a powerful female character. The moment I read the script, I was thrilled and without a second thought I agreed to work in the film." |
