I know what you mean, I live in the UK and although it has the highest obesity rate in Europe you still don't find many fat desis. I think it's mainly because of the home made desi food, you can just go down the road and find all the vegetables, herbs and spices for a desi meal. When I went to visit my cousins in America they told me they hardly ever eat Indian food because you cannot buy all the ingedients locally to make at home, and if you eat out everyday it would be too expensive.
true words guys....I think if we all learned how to cook we would maybe be healthier.
Like if I am making some Punjabi food, i would substitute some oil with a different type of oil, or use olive oil butter instead of real butter.
Also if your baking and you must use eggs (i dont), use apple sauce (yess its truee look it up). It really comes out good.
