KOLLAM: Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty arrived at the Ashtamudi Lake on Saturday for the shooting schedule of the English film 'The Desire.'
An Indo-Chinese joint venture, the film is directed by the Malayalam director R. Sarath.
'The Desire' has Shilpa pairing up with Chinese superstar Xia Yu in the lead. Yu had attained fame by becoming the youngest actor to win the best actor award at the Venice Film Festival for his role in the film 'In The Heat of The Sun.' He is scheduled to arrive here by Tuesday and it will be the first time that Shilpa meets him.
On location at Olai on the banks of the lake, it is rumoured that Shilpa will shave off her luxuriant locks to play the role of Gautami, a gifted Odissi dancer. To lend authenticity to the character she portrays, Shilpa had recently taken Odissi lessons.
'The Desire' is a film that deals with the fine arts. Yu plays an artist Jai Leang in the film. Other Bollywood actors in the film include Anupam Kher and Jayaprada.
The film will reportedly be shot in Kuala Lumpur too. Though an Indo-Chinese venture, it is not being shot in China. However, it will be dubbed in Chinese and is expected to be released in Shanghai.
