 Anil Kapoor, who plays the role of a game show host in the internationally acclaimed film 'Slumdog Millionaire', has donated his fee from the film to a Delhi based NGO working for child development."I have been associated with Plan India for the last three years. The NGO is involved in creating awareness about birth registration, working against child abuse, trafficking, education and rehabilitating deprived children," Kapoor, 49, told here today. Kapoor, said, he had decided to donate his entire fee for 'Slumdog Millionaire' to the NGO much before the film was released and appreciated. "I think it is the good wishes and blessings of the children that were instrumental in the success of the film." The actor staunchly defends the film that has been criticised in certain sections for portraying the dark underbelly of Mumbai-- dirty slums and poverty. "Ours is a democratic country and every one is entitled to their views and opinions. The criticism comes from a minuscule section which need not be taken seriously," the actor who is "eagerly" awaiting the audience's verdict in India said. "The film is a work of art. Let's stop being defensive about the reality. 'Slumdog..' is a rags to riches love story. It's a feel good film," he said. Asked whether the criticism was because the film was directed by a foreigner, Kapoor said, "the criticism has come because of its success."
