Based on my understanding Religion is step one and Spirituality step two. Having a firm footing on religion helps in our own spiritual unfoldment. Reading about the lives of saints and sages is a great help in understanding ourselves. But even among the saints their methods seem to vary outwardly but all have the great love and sacrifice as their hallmark. Sometimes reading too much only confuses us to we have to go step by step.
