Sindhoor and maang--so is that it?

All right, this may very well be the most absurd question you will get in a while.


I've now seen in this and other shows how a couple is considered married when the guy fills a woman's maang with sindhoor. Now what Swati did was a bit different. The thought was touching, but slightly corny. But who am I to say?


Now, is that all it takes to consider oneself married? I thought there were more religious aspects and rituals. So am I wrong when I say just filling the maang does not qualify as married???


My mistake on the earlier spelling--wasn't even thinking of the correct spelling, b/c it's rarely used as a word here.

u know thats wht i wonder as well i mean these dramas hav made a joke out of religion..i dont know the exact rituals myself by sumtiems these drama ppl make the girl marrried just by wearing mangalsutra, sumtiems they show her married just by wearing sindooor in maang...😕 7 pheras, mangalsutra and sindoor - all of these r essential in order to be called a wed couple right???? could sum1 plz explain this to us more...btw nice q gp00:)

Yes! In the ancient days they use to practice that ...if a guy fills in a maang of a girl with sindoor she is his legal wife..
