What are your plans for Diwali How are you celebrating !!

Diwali is one of India's largest annual festivals (a Diwali Mela) and is traditionally celebrated for 5 continuous days with the third day, 'The Festival of Lights' being the main day. Diwali is never without spectacular fireworks and on the dark nights of Diwali (the new moon of the lunar month of Kartika, which falls in October / November every year) the sound of firecrackers announces the celebration.

This day Goddess Lakshmi- who is the Goddess of Wealth is worshipped for wealth & prosperity.

The growing cultural diversity of Hindu religion throughout the globe creates scopes for Diwali celebration all around the world. Although different levels of prominence are given to specific festivals in different parts of the world, most Diwali celebrations around the world tend to focus on enjoyment with family and friends.

Even though it may mean different things to Hindus in different religions, Diwali is as important to Hindus as Christmas is to Christians. Diwali is also a meaningful celebration to the Sikh community. The word Diwali is adapted from teh Sanskrit word "Deepawali," which means a row or cluster of lights. Diwali itself is known as the Festival of Lights. It is an annual observance held during the autumn month the Hindus called Karthika. Common to the celebrations held throughout the Hindu world is the presence of a display of lights.
