Asha's melodic journey
After 25 years Ghulam Ali and I have collaborated together. His son Amir Ghulam Ali has also worked on the music. He has also sung two songs with me. I think people will love the album as it is very refreshing. Those who like ghazal will especially enjoy it.

How was it working with Ghulam Ali after so long?
Well, it was the same as 25 years ago. Although at that time it took us 4 days to record one song whereas at this time it took us not more than a day. I guess that was because of our experience and the advance in technology. I remembered the time when Ghulam Ali ji and I would sit for long hours recording.
What are your views on today's singers?
I think that all of them have singing talent but they lack originality. Even the music directors of today are continuously copying their material from other places. Western music is very different from Indian music. One should always be in tune with their culture and promote it. But what can I say about today's generation? They aren't interested in doing that. However, there are some like Sonu and Shreyas who are very good. I like classical music and I love to listen to it. Till I am alive I will continue to sing such songs.
We heard that there are some remix songs on this album?
Mujhe nahi pasand koi aur mere geeton ka tod phod kare, usse achcha hai main hi tod du. So it is I who remixes my own songs. Otherwise, I don't know why people would want to remix. Remixing music is okay though, but today, films are being remade too! I don't know what will happen to the industry in the future when they will only resort to rehashing old songs and movies.
How you have you managed to stay so full of energy? Any tips for aspiring singers who want to follow your footsteps?
Think positive and eat nutritious food, that's it. If your thinking is on the right track it will show on your face. As for singing, struggling singers should do riyaaz and more riyaaz. Only then can you be a good singer. Riyaaz is very important. After the age of 10, I stopped eating ice creams, shrikhand, cold drinks and anything else that could effect my voice adversely. As singers, we have to take care of our greatest asset.
