The forerunner to the camera was the Camera Obscura The camera obscura is an instrument consisting of a darkened chamber or box, into which light is admitted through a convex lens, forming an image of external objects on a surface of paper or glass, etc., placed at the focus of the lens. The camera obscura was first invented by the Iraqi scientist Ibn -al-Haytham (Alhazen) as described in his Book of Optics (1015-1021) ie in 11th Century

and about that Ganesh Utsav didn't find anything as such in 13th Century but In 1893,Lokmanya Tilak, an Indian nationalist, social reformer and freedom fighter reshaped the annual Ganesh festival from private family celebrations into a grand public event.

it might be in Foreign countries but in india they used to do paintings.....

ofcourse,but it's intersting to know that these things existed in those days somewhere in the world.
