Be warned - this is a long post!!!!
Prachi's Character
I have already posted this in another topic but had to write this here to explain why I think Prachi ended up with the Dasguptas. I probably will be lynched and vilified for this post as it is defending her to some extent but I had to do this.
Prachi's is not your average modern girl. It is in the original write-up of this serial. She is not able to survive without the protection of someone. Originally...it was her father and neev. Then it was Milsi who provided this environment for her. She is just happy being a pretty trophy housewife. The few attempts she made in trying to be useful turned out to be disasterous.
1. taking the blame for Milsi in Ayesha's murder
2. trying to protect Milsi from a killer and nearly got Neev killed
3. trying to give Ayesha her rightful place in the Shah household and made everyone's lives a misery
4. trying to get back her family fortune by marrying Milsi..though on hindsight this was probably the best decision she has made in her life etc: (the list is long)
She left Milsi with a suitcase which probably had money on which she could survive. But...she left this at Mallika's house trying to get away from Milsi. She had no means of support and would not have known where to start (going by her character) and now she was an expectant mother to boot.
To me Proteek would have looked like a life saviour to her???
Sorry guys...but this is how I see it. Believe me....I wasone of the first one to write a nasty post on this forum when I first saw the SBS episode. But on the point about being able to look after herself....this girl couldn't find her way out of a paperbag and not even know where to start.!!!
I would like to see something like this storyline for this track. This is the only way Prachi's character can be redeemed to a certain extent in my eyes.
Train blast happens.
Panchi Dasgupta dies saving Prachi Mishra's life but before she dies she makes her husband promise her that she will look after Prachi Mishra – this way Prachi Mishra would be forever in debt to Panchi for her life and would do anything for Panchi's family.
OR
Prachi Mishra saves the life of little Proteek but Panchi Dasgupta dies. Before Panchi dies, she makes her husband promise that he would look after Prachi because she saved their son's life. (not a likely scenario because for Prachi to say with the Dasguptas….she needs to be in debt to them somehow so the first scenario is more likely.)
Prachi, Proteek and SonProteek reach Kolkata. They find the father is gravely ill and will not be able to take the shock of knowing his bahu has passed away. Proteek asks Prachi to pretend she is Panchi until such a time when they are able to reveal to the family the truth. Prachi faints and everyone finds out that she is pregnant. Family is very happy thinking Proteek is the father and the opportunity to reveal the truth passes away. Prachi decides to remain with the Dasguptas and pretend to be Proteeks Panchi. Proteek is still in love with his dead wife. So Proteek and Prachi share a bedroom…but Prachi sleeps on the floor (remember the early days of Michi marriage….this scenario is very plausible)
The Daguptas are a lively bunch with fun and joviality and laughter in the house. Prachi slowly starts relaxing and becoming a little bit happier as time goes by (but still missing Milind). She has the baby and she and Proteek become good friends (more like brother and sister…at least that is what Prachi thinks). But lately…Proteek has started having more than friendly feelings for Prachi and he is starting to fall in love with her. Hence…his comment in the interview that he hasn't proposed to her yet.
To a large extent…they put up a show of being a happily married couple in front of the family…but behind closed doors…they are just good friends. This first episode after the leap is probably the first time Proteek has behaved like this with Prachi and Prachi is confused not knowing if he is still playing or serious.
The dialogues they spoke…on Prachi's part looked like she was expressing her indebtedness and gratefulness to Proteek for giving her shelter and a new life. Without him and his protection she would not have survived in the world. On Proteek's part he was comparing Prachi to his dead wife Panchi though he has now started having other feelings for Panchi.
SS….PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE don't butcher Prachi's character….she is the other HALFof Michi…and we cannot accept her any other way.
