It's been 11 years since CID hit the small screen. Despite the onslaught of hundreds of channels and TV shows, it's still going strong. What's more, a scene from the show has also made it to the Guinness Book Of World Records. Shot in Jaipur in 2006, it spans nothing less than 1151 minutes. The years have rolled on, but the popularity of the show hasn't changed. Nor has the cast and crew, with Shivaji Satam, who plays ACP Pradyuman, being the face of the show. He has played this role for a long time and yet, Shivaji is far from bored of it. "I still feel as enthusiastic about CID as I did when I just started out in that role. We've been through a lot but we're like one big happy family, members of which know about the likes and dislikes of one another," he says. CID is the longest-running crime series on the tube. And the protagonist is known more as ACP Pradyuman than as Shivaji Satam, the actor. "I don't mind at all. I can do CID for life. It is the serial I have grown with, as a person and an actor." It's easy to lose yourself in your character. After 11 long years, has some shades of his character come into Shivaji's off-screen personality too? "I think every actor should learn to switch off once he/she has given the shot. It becomes even more important when you do a role for a long time. I have reached that balance," he says. Stay tuned, CID's best is yet to come. www.deccan.com |
