Monaz wants to be a bahu...

...but soap makers thinks she's too glamorous for the job

Monaz Mevawalla who's been playing the Jiah Khan from Nishabd prototype in Sahara One's Ghar Ek Sapna is unhappy with her good looks. Think that's ridiculous? Ask Monaz. The girl has been desperately wanting to play the quintessential TV bahu and the only thing that's keeping her from it is her own fair and pretty self.

"Many times I am rejected at auditions on the grounds that I am too glamorous. Most daily soap makers want a plain jane girl. They wanted me to make my skin shade darker", says the unhappy actress.

Monaz has been seen in serials like Chup Chup Ke and Jab Love Hua. She has played negative roles in two of her more recent shows, Rakhi and Main Aisi Kyun Hoon.

Inspite of doing some good work, limelight still eludes her. When asked for the reason, Monaz replies, "Maybe I don't have the right PR or manipulation skills to get ahead."

When asked about her dream role, the actress promptly says, "To play a good looking lead bahu who stands up for her rights." But what will happen to the short skirts and dresses? "I am tired of wearing short clothes", says Monaz. "I just dig wearing saris, mangal sutra and sindoor", she continues excitedly.

I do not think that the allegation that most people want "plain Jane" bahu's is right. I mean top-notch Indian television gives the audiences the most beautiful bhaus of all time. For example, there's Sarah Khan (I love this girl! lol), SayantaniGhosh herself, Pallavi Subhash, all the bahus from KSBKBT to name a few. I think that Monaz should really try a bit harder, and get better PR, just as she suggests. Maybe she's not marketing herself right. Also, I think she needs to go to the right production houses for her roles. She's a very good actress.. I'm sure if the likes of Ekta decided to give her a chance (even if it's a menial role to start off with) she'd realize that there's a market out there for glam-bahus as well! I wish her well<3. I think she has it in her to make it big.
