| Much has been said about Paheli, India's official entry to the Oscars. Now, with a turn of events, the film might not make it to the Oscars, after all. The Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) is accusing the producers of ill treating the animals that were used for the film's shooting. In fact, the AWBI had already sent a notice to Shah Rukh Khan, way back in April, advising him not to approach the Censor Board. The Board plans to sue M/s Red Chillies Company, which is jointly owned by Shah Rukh Khan, Juhi Chawla and Sanjeev Chawla. A number of camels were used to depict a race. It is said that the animals were not taken care of. The film has violated the Performing Animal Rules, 2001, and the Prevention of Cruelty to Animal Act, 1960. However representatives of M/s Red Chillies Company deny the fact that they received any letter from the Board. The producers were not available for comments. |
