This computer student participated in a college fashion show where she was noticed by a well-known photographer, on whose insistence she took up acting. "Actually he wanted me to model for his photos but since my mother wasn't comfortable with the idea, I took up acting."
And the girl is thoroughly enjoying her stint on TV. In town for the promotion of her latest show on air, Snigdhaa says she's very much like the character of Bhakti she's playing in the serial. "Except that I am not as religious as Bhakti. Although I do go to Siddhivinayak temple every Tuesday, I'm very much the girl next door," she adds.
Having played three different characters in Kyunki, Snigdhaa's ouster from the serial still makes her cringe. "I was playing the character of Sanchi in the serial when one day I got to know through someone else that I had been replaced by Anita Hasanandani, who was Ekta Kapoor's friend. I was very upset as I felt I should have at least been informed by the production house. I had played the character for so long. If Ekta wanted Anita as Sanchi, she should have taken her in the first place. Why replace me in the middle of the serial?"
But she's quick to add: "I guess whatever happens, happens for the best as I don't see the character anywhere in the serial now."
Snigdhaa, who hasn't had any formal training in acting is more keen on singing than acting. "I haven't had any formal training in singing either. But when I've quit acting I'd like to pursue singing. That is my mother's wish too and I want to fulfil it for her."
Snigdhaa is not afraid of the competition she faces with new girls making an entry every other day in serials. "I am different from the other girls who claim that they auditioned just for fun. I have made an honest sincere attempt and I'm doing pretty well for myself. My USP lies in my girl next door look, which is what is required for TV serials these days."
Well, not just TV, she has all the plans of doing movies too if any meaningful roles are offered to her. "I want to do the type of roles that have been played by Smita Patil, Nandita Das, etc. I don't want to do glamorous roles simply because I can't relate to them."
And with a horde of reality shows happening on TV, Snigdhaa is also open to the offers of participating in a few of them, depending on how much time she has. "As of now, I am so busy with this show of mine that I can't even think of doing anything else. But once free, I would love to participate in a singing show," she says as her parting shot.
