Kapil Sharma’s Surrey-based café, Kap’s Café, has been targeted by gunfire for the second time within a month. The fresh attack occurred early Thursday morning in British Columbia, Canada, raising serious concerns about ongoing threats linked to criminal networks with terror ties.
According to Surrey Police, the incident happened at around 4:40 am on August 7, 2025, outside a business in the 8400 block of 120 Street. Officers responding to the call discovered multiple bullet marks, which damaged windows and parts of the building. Thankfully, no one was injured.
Police confirmed this was the second such incident, with the café previously coming under fire on July 10, 2025. Authorities suspect both attacks are connected and likely orchestrated by the Laddi gang, believed to be affiliated with the banned Khalistani terrorist group Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).
The café, jointly owned by Kapil Sharma and his wife Ginni Chatrath, recently hosted Surrey mayor Brenda Lock and several local police officials. After that visit, Kapil had posted a short clip on Instagram, writing, “United we stand against violence.”
Investigations point to Harjit Singh Laddi, a fugitive facing terrorism-related charges in India. Laddi is allegedly behind a string of violent acts targeting individuals with pro-India views. He’s also suspected in the assassination of VHP leader Prabhakar, who was gunned down in Punjab’s Rupnagar district on April 13, 2024.
Along with his associate Kulbeer Singh alias Sidhu, Laddi is also accused of financing terror networks and recruiting individuals for targeted killings. In 2023, Punjab Police uncovered a BKI module in Ludhiana, reportedly linked to Laddi and another handler.
India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) has declared a ?10 lakh reward for any credible tip-off leading to Laddi’s arrest. As the probe continues, security around the café and nearby businesses has been stepped up. Surrey Police are currently collecting surveillance footage and speaking to witnesses. For now, no arrests have been made, and officials are urging anyone with information to come forward.
