The guy's been badmouthing the Indian Music Industry a lot!
Sonu Nigam is undoubtedly one of the most talented singers in the country but he always ends pissing us off by his unwarranted comments!
This time he has taken on the Indian Music industry itself. He has complained that Bollywood film music promotions are killing the private album market.
The private album singers can't compete with mainstream singers and end up damaging their own creativity!
I wonder why is Sonu complaining so much now? Hadn't he himself catapulted to Bollywood film playback singing with the help of plagiarised versions of the late Mohd Rafi's evergreen numbers for T-Series?
Once a popular name as a film playback singer, he used that fame to sell his private albums. Not only that, he also went on to attempt acting as a main lead in films without learning the ABCD of acting. Post an egg on his face on that count (on many counts actually, LOL) he fell back on singing.
Once the popularity of Himesh Reshammiya started soaring and A-list filmmakers began preferring a Shaan or a K.K or even a Kunal Ganjawala over him, Sonu diplomatically announced he has cut down on his film singing and wants to concentrate on his private albums and carry on his creative experiments there.
T-Series kicked him out of their circle and he had to take shelter with its rival company Sa Re Ga Ma to come up with his next private album, which though classically creative, failed to strike a chord with the listeners! Now like a perfect case of sour grapes he's trying to find an excuse for his failures!
He has surprised me with his naive ness (or is it his idiocy?) as he has gone on to compare the Indian music scene with that of the West. He claims that pop singers like Britney Spears, Michael Jackson and Jennifer Lopez are highly promoted there with no budget constraints by record companies. That's why these singers enjoy iconic status. I would like to ask Sonu, has he surveyed the kind of private album singers we have here in India?
Barring a few talented names, the rest are nothing but a pack clowns like Mika, Meet Brothers and even the Rakhi Sawant kinds! Does he expect Indian record companies to promote them like those in the West?
I wish to advise Sonu to take a cue from his arch rival in every department (looks included) Himesh to learn self promotion and stop complaining like a school boy!
