Asin looks out

By: Shaheen Parkar

Mumbai:

dhund rahi ek aashiyaana: Asin

South sensation Asin Thottumkal has just stepped into B-Town and is on a house-hunting spree in Mumbai. She has been receiving several offers and it is important that the Chennai-based actress set up base in the city.

Asin features with Aamir Khan in the Hindi remake of the south flick Ghajini, directed by A R Murugadoss. Presently the actress stays at a rented apartment in Shastri Nagar near Lokhandwala in Andheri. The place has been provided by the Ghajini folk. Asin is avoiding media glare, her businessman father Joseph Thottumkal, who is simply referred to as JT, explains, "People have difficulties pronouncing the surname."

Exploring options

Says JT, "Yes, she is looking for a place. We want Asin to be comfortable here and it's important that she has her own home. The hunt is on for a location convenient for her shoot schedules, so it will be somewhere in the suburbs. We haven't finalised anything yet. I am just exploring the options."

She has also bagged in Priyadarshan's Aise Ko Taisa, opposite Akshay Kumar and Vipul Shah's London Dreams starring Salman Khan and Ajay Devgan.

Limelight later

As Asin is busy with her film shoot and photo sessions, there is little time to check out the places personally. "I am here to help her out," points out the papa.

About Asin consciously keeping away from the limelight, he says, "She has been told not to talk to the media by anyone; there is no such contract. We don't want to create an unnecessary hype from now as expectations then go sky- high. It's best for her to be in the limelight only when the Hindi version of Ghajini is readying for release. We are saving it for then."

Bai from Chennai!
The family maid, Bula, has also shifted with Asin from Chennai to Mumbai. "She's been with us for over two and a half years and she too was keen to move with Asin. This was all to help Asin be comfortable in Mumbai so that she does not have to worry about the domestic front." The maid's parents made ugly allegations against the actress when she took her along to Mumbai. "That's all been sorted out," says JT.

P.S.Never heard the name Asin before.Lot of people on the west coast are(expectedly) from the christian community..John Abraham,Genelia,Asin..
