How does it feel being part of the 50 th year of the 'Filmfare' Awards?
"I used to hear about the 'Filmfare' Awards even when I was a child; back then, I never in my wildest imagination thought that I would be part of it some day, and that I will witness the 50 th year of the awards sitting there in the audience as an actress. It's an amazing feeling! The 'Filmfare' Awards is the oldest and most special."
You bagged the award in the same category last year, what's your gut feel this time?
"Well, my gut feel is always positive. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. And wearing a big smile on my face - not to shield my anxiety, but I'm genuinely thrilled I'm nominated for a Yash Chopra film."
What was the most special thing about being a Yash Chopra heroine?
"The special thing was to be his heroine, which in itself is such an honor that you feel you've got your reward. Yash Chopra is an institution and he's worked with legends, so you can well understand what it meant to be the leading lady in his film. When I came to Mumbai with a big dream, I knew only two people – Yash Chopra and Shekhar Kapur, so when 'Veer Zaara' was offered to me, I thought I was really lucky."
Who do you think is your toughest competition this year?
"Rani, Aishwarya, Urmila...all of them. I haven't seen every film, but I know they're all such good actresses, hence they all are tough competition, too - not in the order I mentioned, okay!"
Which is the most promising film at the awards this year?
"My film – 'Veer Zaara'."
