The duo claim it's a unique and rare feat!
Music director duo Vishal and Shekhar have managed a unique achievement by getting together Kishore Kumar along with son Sumit. Spooked? Well chillaax, I too got the goose bumps on hearing this first and wanted to head straight to them and ask how they managed it but found out that it was all modern technology ka kamaal!!
The promos of 'Bachna Ae Haseeno' have begun running almost 24/7 on every music channel since Sunday. It has Ranbir Kapoor in the lead romancing three hotties -Minissha Lamba, Bipasha Basu and his current squeeze Deepika Padukone. It features the famous number by the same name from the late 70s hit flick 'Hum Kissise Kum Nahin' featuring his dad, Rishi Kapoor. Now to cash in on the popularity of the super hit RD Burman number, the duo has retained the same number for the film and modifying it a bit to suit today's music lovers' taste has also incorporated late Kishorda's youngest son, Sumeet in it.
They claim it's their golden opportunity to pay homage to the singing legend but I claim it is plain laziness! They explained how they managed it, "It is a one of a kind experiment wherein the song begins with Kishore da's original voice with which we have mixed in the new recorded portions sung by Sumit. It sounds terrific on hearing. Isn't it wonderful that the son who could have never got a chance to sing with his late father has managed to sing the same song with him?"
Well, I found out that all this "golden opportunity" thingie is half truth because originally Ranbir Kapoor had emotionally blackmailed director Siddharth Anand (of Ta Ra Rum Pum "ill" fame) to let him croon this number. But once in the recording room everyone including Ranbir realised singing is definitely not his cup of cappuccino!
Even an Amrish Puri sounded great while singing those Oye Oyes! It was then that the musical duo hit upon the idea of carrying forward the nostalgia bit of Ranbir - Rishi with Kishore Kumar -Sumit! This saved them the time to hunt for new singers or compose a new tune!
