To begin with, he has been quite a devdas since college. Every girl he liked, ran away from him. The only response he got to " I love u" was "Shut up"! And those girls always ran after Armaan. For example, Sonia. Armaan never was interested in Sonia actually. She went gaga over him. So, thats why Armaan and Rahul always had this rivalry since college. Rahul was jealous of Armaan. Then one fine day he came to sanjivani and eventually they became great friends. The reason Rahul understands Armaan so well because he knows him quite well. They are from the same town, same college. He has seen Armaan doing different things. He has seen his attitude, his love lives, his pranks. He knows how Armaan is, and today he is happy that Armaan has found love.
His relationship with Muskaan has always been a "Love & Hate Relationship". Here, also fate was unkind to Rahul. They both rejected the marriage proposal and Muskaan ran to Mumbai, to avoid marriage. Now Rahul & Muskaan were childhood neighbours. They have played, cried and annoyed each other for ages. Rahul is really concerned when it comes to Muskaan. Today, he has come to realize his true feelings for her.
Now, Rahul was never in love with Riddhima. He did those little things just to annoy Armaan. Yes, I think he was attracted to her at some point. He thought she was beautiful and he complimented her with the shayari and painting. It maybe was a crush. Crushes happen all the time. You get this rush of feelings but then it goes away.
Plus, he well knows what armaan feels for Riddhima so he does not have any issues.
