Comedy ke naam par iska ss bhara pada hain.

I am not liking why he is given soo much importance and leads barely interact.

They wasted so much potential of the fake family.

Regarding Overdo ending, just as I expected, I am happy that one of them died. LOVED how they kept being nonsensical throughout that I never once felt, 'wow that's actually smart' watching this drama!!

Not a single action/reaction of characters made sense and my TOP favorite was Ren Susu running aimlessly from noon to evening instead of heading to the water tank location in the last episode to save Murong Qingyi.

Overall, I'd rate this low because the cases were not organized but somehow they managed to come full clumsy circle with the Zhang family. Only 2 major cases, and both were poorly done

If I should be brutally honest, both of them are so toxic for each other, and even if the drama ended on a happy note I am damn sure their story won't go on for another 4-5 years

Again, this gave me 0 Republican drama vibe!

The weak point of this drama is definitely its writing.

Otherwise, the costumes, styling, and cinematography are pretty good.

The actors are good too. I found the music a bit weak, though. The ending song is amazing.

Even Ren Susu seems stupid to me.

Murong Qingyi’s mom behaves more like a stepmother, and honestly, they gave her the worst character arc.

. The hero just keeps getting beaten up like a little kid. Even the hero’s elder brother doesn’t stand up for his younger brother in front of their mother.

They really wrote such a useless character for him.

And in the ending, almost everyone died, whether they were on the good side or the bad side. Like, what message were they even trying to give?

At one point, I actually thought they were trying to show some kind of patriotism, but the whole thing turned into a disaster for me.

Btw, this drama has caused me serious emotional damage.

I even dropped Blossom after 10 episodes.

Not even one family remained unscathed in this drama. Idek what's the point of this story. The dead are gone for good and the living will continue on with agony. What exactly are they trying to show?

Trust me this show got zero patriotic feeling. I'm sorry for you that this trash turned out to be your first Republican Era drama.

Chinese dramas aren't shot in chronological order, right?

I mean, do they randomly shoot scenes from different parts of the story and then arrange them later according to the storyline?

I saw in the BTS of Road to Glory that the grey haired version was shot first, even though those scenes are from the later part of the novel.

The young version was shot later, towards the end.

I mean, they were shooting the young version scenes after Pursuit of Jade had finished airing.

For a 3 hour movie, I can understand that shooting random scenes and arranging them later wouldn't be too difficult for the director.

But how do they manage this with a 40 episode drama?

Or do they shoot the scenes from one episode out of order, arrange them later, and then move on to the next episode

NO pre-produced drama is shot in episode order. For Chinese dramas, most costume dramas are filmed in Hengdian. Scenes are shot based on costumes, hairstyling, makeup, and the availability of shooting location/props. All scenes with one costume, hairstyle will be shot in a stretch.

Hengdian World Studios is definitely huge, but apart from costume dramas it is also used for Republican Era dramas and sometimes modern dramas too. So imagine the competition for the sets. Even the production schedule has to be aligned with the availability of palace sets and other locations. Another location is Xiangshan film city but most of the sets there are simple courtyards and a massive battlefield.

For a 40-episode drama, at least 50 episodes (or more) worth of footage may be submitted to the censorship board. If more scenes are licensed, each episode can be around 50-54 minutes long. If fewer scenes are licensed, either the total episode count will be reduced or the runtime of each episode will be shortened to around 35-39 minutes.

You can search about Till the End of the Moon's Hengyang Sect sets. It's demolished now but the number of dramas shot there are countless. It comes in the opening episodes of The Double.
