Was Meera such a threat that her history has been targeted? She may have been friends with someone others did not approve of. She might have uncovered something someone wants hidden.

Meera's missing journal is the one thing this person doesn't have. Its a race to find it before this other person. That's probably what Meera's message is, "find it before he does".
