Deepak Chahar vs Priyansh Arya

Veteran pacer Deepak Chahar hasn’t had many chances in this season, but in the last game vs RCB, the seamer showed the threat he possesses. Chahar had the batters in trouble with the new ball as the conditions aided his style of bowling. Priyansh Arya will be itching to get going with the bat and put the bowlers under pressure. The left-handed batter has the best strike for any batter this season.

Jasprit Bumrah vs Shreyas Iyer

The battle between these two players has become really engrossing to watch. Over the last two games, Iyer has been dominating India’s best pacer. PBKS skipper destroyed Bumrah earlier this season. On the other hand, the 32-year-old pacer will be looking to add some wickets and work on his lost confidence after having just three scalps to show for this season.

Arshdeep Singh vs Rohit Sharma

Former Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has been at his best with the bat post his return from injury. In his short stay at the wicket against RCB, the veteran batter was able to outsmart the bowlers under pressure with his aggressive intent. Arshdeep Singh will be keen to exploit Rohit’s age-old weakness of a shaky start against the left-arm seamer. Singh can swing the ball into the batters and will look to dismiss the former MI skipper early.

PBKS are currently placed fourth in the points table, with six wins from 11 matches. However, they are going through a difficult phase, having suffered four consecutive defeats. The team will be eager to bounce back and return to winning ways.

Meanwhile, MI sit ninth in the standings with three wins from 11 matches. After their defeat to Royal Challengers Bengaluru, they were officially eliminated from playoff contention. The five-time champions will now aim to finish the season on a positive note by winning their remaining matches

Punjab Kings

Injuries/Unavailability: Lockie Ferguson missed the last game with a niggle. There is no clarity yet over his availability for this contest.

Tactics & Matchups: There is a case for PBKS to bowl Yuzvendra Chahal earlier considering he has kept Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav quiet in the past, but has struggled against Tilak Varma (who has a SR of 158.69 against Chahal). Ben Dwarshuis has dismissed Ryan Rickelton twice in 14 balls in T20s, but after a tough IPL debut, the Australian pacer could make way for countryman Xavier Bartlett should Ferguson not pass fit.

Probable XII: Priyansh Arya, Prabhsimran Singh (wk), Cooper Connolly, Shreyas Iyer (c), Marcus Stoinis, Shashank Singh, Suryansh Shedge, Marco Jansen, Xavier Bartlett/Lockie Ferguson, Yash Thakur, Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal

Mumbai Indians

Injuries/Unavailability: Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav haven't reached Dharamsala yet at the time of writing. While Suryakumar is expected to be available for the game, Pandya, who missed the last two games with back spasms, was being assessed by the support staff in Mumbai as of Tuesday, pointing towards him being a doubtful starter.

Tactics & Matchups:

MI did not bowl Raghu Sharma, their Impact Sub, in the RCB game. If the playbook for the PBKS-DC game is anything to go by, they could play an extra seamer instead in Shardul Thakur or Ashwani Kumar. Trent Boult has dismissed Prabhsimran thrice in T20s, but his selection looks unlikely, particularly after Corbin Bosch's four-fer in the last game.

Probable XII: Ryan Rickelton (wk), Rohit Sharma, Naman Dhir, Suryakumar Yadav (c), Tilak Varma, Will Jacks, Raj Angad Bawa, Corbin Bosch, Deepak Chahar, AM Ghazanfar, Jasprit Bumrah, Ashwani Kumar/Shardul Thakur
