Finch on Choudhary: Incredible power

Mukul Choudhary not only put on a death-batting masterclass for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), he made the record books too. Here's a look at some numbers from Match 15 of IPL 2026.

54 - Runs LSG chased down after the fall of their seventh wicket on Thursday at Eden Gardens, making it the second-highest tally from that point in the innings in a successful chase in the IPL.

The highest is 61 by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) against Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL 2018 season opener at Wankhede.

52 - Runs Choudhary scored in the death overs (17 to 20) of the chase. He is now one of only two batters to cross 50 in a chase in the death overs of an IPL game - Kieron Pollard did it for MI against Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2013, when he scored 57 off 17 balls when they needed 62 off 24.

1 - Choudhary's unbroken 54-run partnership with Avesh Khan is the highest for the eighth (or lower) wicket in a successful IPL chase. The previous highest was 52* by Rinku Singh and Umesh Yadav, three years ago for KKR against Gujarat Titans.

96.3 - Percentage of runs Choudhary scored in his partnership with Avesh - 52 of 54, off just 21 balls. Avesh faced only three balls and took a single at the start of the 20th over, while another run was a bye on the last ball to complete the win.

It is the highest contribution made by a player in a 50-plus stand in the IPL. The previous highest was 94.64 by Romario Shepherd during his 56-run partnership with Tim David last year for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) against CSK. Shepherd scored 53 of those, while David got to face only ✍️one ball across the 2.2 overs they batted together.

7 - Sixes Choudhary struck during his unbeaten 27-ball 54, the joint-third-highest by any batter while batting at No. 7 (or lower) in an IPL innings. His seven sixes are also the joint-highest while batting at No. 7 (or lower) in a successful IPL chase, alongside the mark of Dwayne Bravo for CSK against MI in 2018.

8 - Instances of KKR losing an IPL match on the last ball while defending a total, the most such defeats for any team. MI are second with seven.

Thursday was the second time LSG completed a chase on the last ball of an IPL game, the first being against RCB in 2023.

5-2 - LSG's win-loss record against KKR in the IPL, including a 3-1 record at KKR's home ground, Eden Gardens. Both KKR wins over LSG came in the 2024 season, when they won the title.

💋Suryavanshi Special 💋 26 ball 78

: Sooryavanshi special dwarfs RCB recovery

Key numbers from Rajasthan Royals' win over Royals Challengers Bengaluru in Guwahati

7 Instances of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) losing while defending a 200-plus target in the IPL, the joint-most for any team alongside Punjab Kings (PBKS).

202 for 4 Rajasthan Royals' (RR) total in the chase in Guwahati is only their second 200-plus total against RCB in the IPL. In 2018, they had posted 217 for 4 in Bengaluru against them.

97 for 1 RR's total in the powerplay on Friday is their highest ever in the IPL. Their previous highest in this phase was 89 for 1 against PBKS in 2025.

3 Fifties by Vaibhav Sooryavanshi under 18 balls in the IPL, the most by any batter. Six other batters have two fifties apiece in less than 18 balls in the league.

In all, Sooryavanshi has four T20 fifties in less than 18 balls. Abhishek Sharma (5) had more, while Chris Gayle and Kieron Pollard also have four each (where ESPNcricinfo has data).

Friday was the second instance of Sooryavanshi scoring a 15-ball fifty in the IPL. Jake Fraser-McGurk is the other batter with two such fifties, both in the 2024 season.

17.51 Run rate of the partnership between Sooryavanshi and Dhruv Jurel, who added 108 runs from just 6.1 overs. It is the second-fastest century stand in terms of run rate in the IPL, behind Abhishek and Travis Head's 131 off 6.2 overs against Delhi Capitals (DC) in 2024, which was scored at 20.68 runs per over.

3 Instances of Sooryavanshi scoring 50-plus runs at 300-plus strike rate in T20s. Only one man has as many or more such scores: Pollard (4). Two of Sooryavanshi's 50-plus scores while striking at 300-plus came in the IPL. Fraser-McGurk is the only other player with two such scores.

107 Runs RCB added after the fall of their sixth wicket, the second-most by any team in the IPL. The highest is 115 by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) against RR in 2013, who finished with 144 for 9 from 29 for 6.

RCB had three 30-plus partnerships after the fall of their sixth wicket, making it only the second such instance in men's T20 cricket.
