Taniya Chatterjee says Yuzvendra Chahal’s PR team asked her to DELETE video after she exposed his ‘Cute’ DMs

Actress Taniya Chatterjee, who is one of the boldest creators on social media recently got herself becoming the centre of attention during a casual spotting and that was because of a name drop - Yuzvendra Chahal.

Chatterjee, while having a talk with the paparazzi went on to show them proof about how Yuzvendra Chahal has gone on to not only see his Instagram stories but reply on them saying 'cute'. She showed the paparazzi actual screengrab of it and this became a talking point.

We managed to talk to Taniya Chatterjee exclusively asking her about what led to this sudden reveal about showing Yuzvendra Chahal's chats, did they have a talk further, if she fears people will say it's fake an much more.

Q. You chose to show the replies Yuzvendra Chahal gave on your stories, what led you to show it to the paps out of nowhere?

Taniya: It was a casual conversation. I was talking to the paps about IPL. I love and understand the sport fully, where my father has taught me cricket since my toddler days. So then, the paps and I were having a lot of talks about it while they were capturing me about if I am following IPL this year, who is my favorite cricketer, just like friends do. I responded saying, Shreyas Iyer is my favorite and I find him cute but I am some other cricketer's favorite, it seems. This is how the conversation came up about Yuzvendra Chahal, and to which the paps asked how did you know that you are cute for Chahal, because that can be said by anyone. Then when they asked, I went on to show the paps and everyone the messages section where Chahal responded 'cute' to a few of my stories. I had the proof and I never make any claims if not for proofs and interestingly, I didn't even see it when Chahal had responded to the stories saying 'cute.' I only saw it much later.

I got a message from his (Chahal's) PR team asking me to delete the video and I wondered why because it is the truth and he hasn't said anything shameful or anything, right?

Q. Did he approach you and did you both have a conversation after that?

Taniya: Obviously, Chahal was the one who approached me from his own side and he didn't just message once, but twice and thrice. But I honestly did not pay attention initally because I had no idea which cricketer is responding or so, and I am busy with my work to actually pay special attention to that. But when I checked and saw that yes, Chahal is a popular cricketer and he has done a lot of things in his life and achieved a lot.

Q. In these times of AI and morphed images, did you fear or think about if people will allege that it's fake?

Taniya: Not at all. You can do only a few things with AI but you can't fake one's DMs or replies or messages at all. Even today, when AI videos are put out, it becomes obviously clear what is real and what's not. So, I don't really fear that people will allege that this is FAKE and all because, there is always a difference and I have nothing to hide. Many people would love to create fake controversies out of this, I don't need it. The topic was raised, went on to become a talking point, I had proof and showed it. Simple.

Q. Did you two actually have a talk after this happened and would you be open to the idea?

Taniya: Not at all. Why would we talk? It isn't like we exchanged numbers on WhatsApp or anything. In fact, after this happened, I got a message from his (Chahal's) PR team asking me to delete the video and I wondered why because it is the truth and he hasn't said anything shameful or anything, right? It is a compliment given by a man to a girl, so why make a big deal out of it? If Chahal wants to talk directly, he can about this whole saga or so.
